Welcome @YungStotle, happy to have you.

I actually made this account in early 2015 to post my final pics in the HWDC2 (was wearing Samurai 710s for that) here instead of just at SuFu, but haven't used it since then and just lurked here a bit until recently. I've been into some other Japanese denim brands (PBJ, Samurai) for awhile, and finally made the jump recently with some shirting. I immediately realized how awesome it was and I bought a bunch more shirting (seriously went overboard… hah...) and a duck type 3. I'd wanted to update my shirting collection for awhile, but couldn't really justify so much expensive clothing while in grad school. I've been out of that for a bit over a year and a half now, stopped by SESF on a recent trip to try on an ultra heavy flannel, and was just like "OK, looks like I'm going to be ordering a bunch of this in the near future." I'm looking forward to trying IH jeans as well at some point, though IDK if I'll jump on a pair yet, as I have a pair of Black Samurai 710s and PBJ xx-020s that both have a lot of life yet, and I haven't typically had more than two pairs in the rotation in the past (often just 1). Seems like a great forum, and I recognize a handful of people from back in the day at SuFu, where I haven't really posted in awhile.
Beyond being into rugged clothes that are made properly, I'm a distance runner, bioengineering PhD that does academic research in neural engineering, and skier. I frequently work on furniture projects with my wife, who also has taken on and completed some ridiculously challenging clothing construction projects. So, I've really developed an appreciation for proper construction in a handful of senses, which makes Iron Heart even more fun to wear.

^ Welcome for reals cander49. Don't know too much about SuFu but I understand the vibe here is a little different.
IH shirting is pretty special and the duck is awesome, one of my favourite IH fabrics. Keep your eyes open for the duck CPO coming shortly.
The thing about IH bottoms is the choice you get in terms of fabric and cuts. It can be a challenge finding your way, but that is why this forum is here. There's lots to research and if you need to know something badly, just ask. Good to have you here.

Thanks. Yeah, this forum seems friendly and helpful. SuFu is a bit all over the place in terms of interests, so it's cool that this is pretty focused on IH and other really well made stuff. In terms of bottoms, I'm pretty certain that I'd do 777. I've mostly worn 17-19 oz denim before, always RH twill. I was thinking I'd do 21 next time, since I had heard that these are pretty soft even in the heavier fabrics, though I guess even 25 could possibly work. Options…

I could talk all day about the different IH denims but I'll keep it short here. I think you'll find them quite different from PBJ and Sammy's. The 21oz is pretty unique because of Haraki-san's vision of what it should be. That alone makes it different from what Samurai and PBJ do. The 25oz is just out of this world, but the "lighter" IH denims between 14-19oz are also all unique and interesting in their way. Personally I think the 17oz natty indigo "N" denim doesn't get the love it deserves.

Hi all,
A good friend turned me on to this great forum.
I look forward to learning and laughing with all of you passionate and experienced folks.
I am from Oakland Ca, main clothing interests are in Military wear and Ivy but I get obsessed with other things quickly and am open to everything. Otherwise I hang with my kids, cook and stay sober.
Thanks for the warm welcome.
Cheers,
Patrick

Hi everyone,
I joined SUFU in 2012 (same username) and made this account more recently, but was never the most active poster due to a busy (but not always exciting) life. I decided to go for the DWC to get more involved with a community of people with this similar interest, so I'd like to introduce myself here as I plan to post more regularly, especially with updates to the DWC.
I live in Cambridge, MA. The Boston area has so much to offer in terms of culture as well as wonderful outdoor spaces, whether it's parks, the common & public garden, or just streets and neighborhoods. I grew up listening to hardcore punk and playing in bands, and still make an effort to go to shows and am trying to get a new project off the ground.
I love cooking and coffee, beer and red wine. My wife and I both work in education, and have a boston terrier named Fig Newton.
Cheers!
Harry

Hello from Alaska!
I'm not new to denim but I believe my quest for quality shirting has landed me here.
I'm a sole proprietor of a private sanctuary for the western boreal wood frog.
When I am not tending to my toads I'm drink' black coffee, fly' the flannel and waiting for records to arrive in the mail.~John

FAWK!!!!
My long description was nuked
In a nutshell, it's not a job.
I advocate for their protection on my property from over zelious neighbors who wish to develop adjoining land.
The wood frog is fairly common but its environment and habitats are protected.
From my research the concentration levels I have never been recorded, normally an army or two is concidered huge, on my property I would estimate several regiments. In the height of their breeding season their singing can be defining and it is amazing! -
@Confused_ivy welcome!
Always a pleasure to cross paths with another friend of Bill W.Looking forward to interacting with you here…

How's it going everybody? I bought my first pair of Iron Heart jeans in early August this year, IH 634S-B's to ne exact. I have given them some serious asswhop in the 2.5 months I have owned them, I'm an aircraft mechanic that does mainly sheet metal work and l always end up with aluminum shavings and dust embedded in my jeans. Needless to say, working in gross smelly airplanes have rendered my 634S-B's super smelly so I decided to give them a premature wash due to the funk they developed working inside some really gross airplanes. I took a few photos of them before I threw them in the wash so here they are, if I can get them uploaded.
Once they are out of the wash and dried, I'll post up some more photos. All I can say is that these are the best quality jeans I have ever worn.
