So I assume very little stretch, if any, after breaking in for the knee/low thigh area?
After soaking my internal struggles remained RE: these. Got about 1.2in out of the inseam via my soak and brief wash, so probably a little shrink left still and the lower thigh area is very tight. Figured if its this tight now, any stretch will be canceled out with the remaining shrink. did a 1.5hr room temp soak and about 15-20min of agitation.
Could move up to a 34 and get the waist taken in but it doesn't even look like much of an increase (just 0.1in). In the mirror they pretty much look perfect, but they just feel uncomfortable/constraining. Doesn't take much knee spreading for the crotch to get really tight [11 and 1 on a clock], when i sit the back rise comes down a little because there isn't any give for the pants to pull from the lower half and when i try to pull them all the way up like Steve Urkel the thigh/knee stops them. Any lifting i do will potentially make these unwearable.
Denim is beautiful though… really want to convince myself to try and break them in but that's an expensive break-in if never really enjoy wearing them. Here's an album and the first pic is a pair of my 1955s. they pretty much fit perfectly, with some room for reduction in the knee. Had the waist reduced by an inch, but should've gone more given it still still has some decent give. https://imgur.com/a/uMWNv
Ya'll are just rocking the slightly relaxed look with good amounts of room it seems and i'm just not feeling how these are sitting on me. And yeah... mirror is dusty in the pics ::).

Here's a few proper fit pics in daylight to start your week:
This is the perfect cut. I can't believe my luck considering these are my very first IH purchase.
FWIW, mine shrunk 1 inch in the waist and 1,2 in length. They are really comfortable already on my first full day of wear. Great work, @Giles and crew!
-
@brotherslen, I think they look good on you, but comfort is key. In all honesty I think that if you take a few weeks to break them in they will work out just fine for you once the denim settles and you get a little bit of stretch in them.
Regarding stretch in the thigh/ knee area, I have found that UHR Denim does stretch back to pre soak size in areas where it meets resistance.

@Yossarian , that's a really nice fit, good images too
-
Mine survived a 40 degree wash with no marks. Will get some measurements done later when they are dry.
-
@brotherslen I understand your dilemma. I’ll just echo what Mega said, they look good and they will relax with wear. Whether they’ll give enough for you is another matter. Good luck.

So here are my measurements after a warm wash
Size 32
Before After
Waist. 32.6 30.5
F Rise 11.8 11.1
R Rise 16.5 15.6
Thigh 13 12.7
Knee 8.9 8.7
Hem 8.1 7.9
Inseam 36.8 34.9 -
Wow @spitfiredealer , I think you really got all the shrink out. 2.1 " in the waist is impressive.
-
yeah I was surprised how much it shrank so much so I just went back a re did it. If really pull on the waist you could say it was 30.6 but that's it. Going to be fun getting them on in the morning

I weep for your testicles

@Yossarian killer fit mate

Looks like everyone is getting quite a bit of shrink in the rise as well. Good to know.

Shrink in the rise?? they have pills for that now

[…]They look small to me. Since they're the DWC version, you might have a better chance of recouping close to what you paid if you decide to sell.

My pair size 34 arrived today. I had them hemmed at IHUK to 35.5"(free hemming? sure I'll take it!), so I own them now regardless.
I'm planning on soaking in the sink for a while to soften the denim (as recommended), then a cold wash, hand cycle, no spin and hang dry, and then a 2nd wash with hot water, hand cycle, no spin and hang dry. I won't get to wear them for a couple of days… I plan to take some raw fit pics.
Re: leather patch treatment, what are fella's here doing, if anything? I've been using 2 coats of Obenauf's Leather Oil before any wash or soak with new jeans, and then a new coating every couple of washes. I especially get the edges of the patches to help minimize the leather wicking in water into the end grain. Yeah, it darkens the patches significantly, especially on veg tanned leathers, but the graphics are still visible. I'd rather extend the life of the patch and avoid cracking.
Here are my raw measurements (there may be inaccuracies around 0.125", as accurate as I can get);
waist: 34.0" (the check list states 34.2" - I'm not gonna argue, it's close enough)
front rise: 12.0"
back rise: 16.5"
thigh at crotch (90° to outer edge): 13.325"
thigh 2" down (90° to outer edge): 12.5"
knee @ 14" down: 9.25"
Hem: 8.5"
Inseam: 35.5" -
