IH-526L - 19oz Left-Hand Twill Selvedge Denim Type III - Indigo

Spent about 2 hours measuring all my jackets and button ups and took the plunge. Love this jacket. Second day trying to break this guy in with raw knuckles and sore thumbs.
But I have to ask what’s the trick to buttoning second from the top? Second from the bottom takes about 3 attempts after resting the fingers but for the life of me that second from the top is a head scratcher.

Thank you all for the great feedback! I decided to wait and try on the larger size, glad I did too because this one just feels right! I ended up with the XXL two sizes up from my IHSH-33T shirt size (L). I’m wearing a thin t-shirt hoodie underneath in this picture, but I do have room for some thicker layers underneath. And now I’m not anxious about the possibility of washing it someday. For me, the smaller size (XL) was a little snug in the mid section and limited my arm and shoulder movement. The XXL has the broad shoulder and long arms while maintaining the slimming mid section—exactly what made me fall in love with the pictures of this jacket in the first place.

I figured out that it helps to fold the fabric with the button in the middle so you can get some leverage on the button to maneuver it through the hole. Otherwise it’s so hard to get a hold on the button.

Use a Needle nose pliers to gently stretch the button holes.
Thanks for the tip. Got the second to the bottom to be a bit easier. Need to work on the second from the top one more. This for sure builds up your thumb strength
yeah I remember thinking "wtf!" trying to button my first IH denim a Type3 22oz leftie gray weft raw collaboration with SE. The jacket wore me for the first few months.
After that ??? there was no going back.
Don't often button denim jackets though. particularly this fucker.
@Dust good call sizing up. -
That's a nice autumnal layout @Oaktavia. And the jacket is looking good!

I love this time of year. The jacket is such a nice cut. I especially like the pockets, they are big and comfortable for my hands. The length is nice too.

Quick sizing question:
I have a 526J-142OD in a XXL (44 tag) that has not been washed/soaked. It fits perfect with a hoody/flannel.
What size should i go with to have the same fit in this model?
Thanks!

@VegaS10 i think the conventional wisdom is to size up and hot soak, putting it on whilst slightly damp

@Giles , I’ve studied both charts, and my 44OD fits perfectly in the important (to me) areas of the shoulders and chest. It leaves me the right amount of room for layering.
Am I correct in assuming I’d also need a 44 in the left hand twill?
I believe I read that the OD doesn’t shrink much due to the overdying. Does the same apply to the left hand twill?
