100% honest that the sangria shop in the picture is good but not as good as the street vendor across the street. Decoration is a little (a lot) overdone and it’s the perfect tourist trap for those who have reached the top of the street.
We went up and down the Main Street in the Barrio Alto district to see what kind of things there were to see, love some of the things I’ve posted pictures of, and plan to pull out the Leica tomorrow to see what I can come up with. The iPhone makes it easy to take the pictures and try out a bunch of different shots quickly…the leica is going to make me work
Excited to see what adventures may come, but yes @Matt riding around with @Giles makes any day a little brighter.
Miss you guys already ️

@goosehd Lisbon is definitely on my hit list and your photos sell it well.
I don’t know if it would be of interest to you but Benfica ( biggest and most successful football team in Portugal) are playing at home on Saturday night at the Estádio da Luz ( Stadium of Light).
Before every game they have an eagle which is the mascot of Benfica, fly around the stadium, and then lands on top of the club’s crest. -
keep the photos coming!!

I do not recommend this trip if only staying for a few days. The train to Sintra is about 45 minutes in which you need transportation to get to the Pena and Moorish castles. The bus took about an hour and when we reached the Pena Castle realized you need to purchase tickets to view. They only have so many tickets per time slot and we wouldn’t have been able to start the tour until 1700 (5:00 PM).
We decided to spend time at the Moorish castle which is only about 10 minutes walk from the Pena site. While very interesting to see and very beautiful in its own right, the entire process has eaten most of the day which could have been better spent.
Many lessons learned today….

@goosehd Sorry to hear that. Nice stonework though, so thanks for sharing.

I’d forgotten (somehow) about the beautiful paving everywhere, laid piece by piece. I’ve personally not seen anything like it anywhere else, certainly not on that scale.
