Holiday Wishlist 2024

My older son (8) wants a Nintendo Switch. I never had video games growing up, so I don’t think he needs it. My younger son (3.5) would be happy with anything.
-
Yeah @chrisjohnnick I had a period where I was addicted to video games in my youth. I still have regrets about prioritizing them over loved ones; hurting a parent’s feelings by choosing Mortal Kombat in the arcade over spending time with them for example.
My wife would have zero patience if I spent a lot of time playing them today, and that time doesn’t exist anyway.
I’ll be very careful about introducing them to my kid, and my wife would be even more resistant to the notion.

@Tago-Mago said in Holiday Wishlist 2024:
despite "inventing" the America's Cup the UK has never won it
Mainly because the New York Yacht Club is/was populated by the cheatiset/unsportingist arseholes the world has ever had the misfortune to spawn.....
-
The only thing I want for the holidays is a divorce.
-
@JerkStore haha…not sure if you’re kidding or not…but may Santa make all your wishes come true.
-
@Mizmazzle did you BOLD the model 10?
-
@Sir_Cuffs-a-Lot hahah. No…but I did write a little note next to it pleading why it would make me so happy.
-
@Mizmazzle you could also remove everything else from the list….
-
@Sir_Cuffs-a-Lot clever idea indeed. Maybe I’ll leave only the model 10 and as a fall back the Clip 8 as a stocking stuffer
-
@Mizmazzle can’t lose
-
@Mizmazzle oh it be true. praying!

I use an app called Moonsift, which lets me add items from websites, or adding photos and a general description. Amazon used to have a chrome plugin that allowed you to add items from external site, but got rid of it a couple years ago. The Moonsift app also lets you organize items and add notes.
I’m sure there are lots of other apps like it nowadays, it it’s what I’ve been using for the last couple of years.

I’m usually the primary gift-getter in the house, since my wife is working long days. She does all the bookkeeping, though, so it usually winds up with a conversation like “hey if you see a charge for $$ on PayPal, you got me a really cool jacket from eBay”
-
I think gift giving is my love language or something. I love to surprise Morgan with gifts at random times. Of course, no one receives the benefit of my love language more then me to myself!! haha
@chrisjohnnick same in our house. The wife monitors all the UPS, USPS delivery notifications. Almost impossible to surprise her (gifts for her or for me) unless I really go covert and have things delivered to my folks house down the street...which is a very regular occurrence.
-
I buy my wife gifts ( with considerable input from my daughters) but I’m with @Tago-Mago when it comes to me. I would prefer to buy for myself rather than anyone else squander cash on something I don’t like/need.
-
She denies it, but my wife is impossible to shop for.
Add to that, she doesn’t like foreknowledge of gifts.
So, surprise her with something I hope she’ll love…. And don’t forget to keep a gift receipt.
Honestly you could just give me a gift certificate to IH and I’d be fine
