@Aetas Kevin gray is a recording engineer similar to bernie grundman different style tho
-
@J-IV , beautiful deep groove pressing . Must have cost you a pretty penny..
-
@steelydan found this for half the price of a typical IHT at a record fair actually. Seller didn't know what they had...
Jazz record prices are insane now, it kind of makes me nauseous lol
-
@steelydan I have an ongoing and heated (albeit good natured) argument with several of my friends about the sacredness of original pressings
I'm typically not a purist especially since I don't want to spend a small fortune on a single album
I'd love to be able to listen to the original 1971 pressing up against the Kevin Gray re-issue someday
-
@GraemeE , same here not a purist . But given a choice to have a original first pressing in gd condition will always be my first choice , but sad to say most popular album is either groove wear, distorted or scratch up . So.. newer well okey pressing will be my only way to enjoy the songs..
Feedback from my friends ( i dont own the original to compare) , the KG reissue sounded bass heavy and not as open .. subjective to different playback system tho -
@J-IV , so happy you have the opportunity to acquire this magnificent deep groove version for a fantastic price . Do give me a heads up if u do chance upon a gd buy that you want to pass ... TIA..
-
@steelydan will do! Any jazz in particular? I don't go digging as often as I used to (or like to for that matter) but I'll gladly pass along a great deal to a good home if I spot one

Start with The Oz Tapes: https://lesrallizesdenudes.bandcamp.com/album/the-oz-tapes
And then there are 3 more on that same label, Temporal Drift, that were (re)issued recently.

@GraemeE oh man!! How do you like the album? I’m a huge KM fan. Seen them a few times. First time was a dive bar in Denver with like 60 people. They absolutely killed it. Again a year later at the same bar with a few more people. Then they got some steam. Saw them last at a bigger Denver venue with like 2,500 people. They incinerated that place. Way better sound system there and they had become so good at drawing out each song into an explosive crescendo!! One hell of a farewell set!! Think it was like their 3-4th to last show ever.
-
@setandsetting rad man!!! Taking the dog to the park and gonna pop in the ear buds!!
Any Warren Zevon fans out there? Mofi just pressed his Excitable Boy album. I snagged one.
-
@steelydan I’ve got a copy of that Electric Warrior pressing. Sound is quite nice. KG does incredible work.
-
@setandsetting any Acid Mothers Temple in your stash?
-
@Mizmazzle masana temples is my favorite of theirs but I intend to gather up the rest at some point
They are going to be one of those bands that I spend years kicking myself for not going out to see live when I had the chance
-
Still bummed KM decided to hang it up. So killer live.
I managed to see Tom Petty a few times, but we’ve all got our version of that story — mine’s Elliott Smith. Dammit, so many missed opps.
