Changes to The Marketplace

so… I love IH but don't really know what I am supposed to post about to get to 20 posts...

I’m 50 next year… also, I don’t think this place has that many boasters. It’s more about a shared interest in how we wear what we wear.
But to answer your question, there’s plenty of hobby threads, and other discissions. And if being social isn’t your thing then you have Grailed and eBay to sell your stuff. You can still come here for research and info.

I get guys that like the community thing, I do

I’m sorry you feel like you’re being penalised. We don’t really feel that being expected to contribute a little is a an unreasonable ask for using the marketplace.
The reasons for this move have been explained here already and are about the community, not the individual. With all due respect, people who use the forum purely for buying and selling offer little value to the community, so are not the forum’s primary concern.
Thank you for airing your point of view though. We are always open to ideas, and this may not be permanent. We will be moving to a new platform soon which may make dealing with the scam/spam problem easier. In which case the threshold will likely be removed.

If the new forum supports badging, when someone is repped as a Hero after a forum transaction, a badge would be handy.
They could charge $8 for a badge! ??? Too soon?

Would that go straight to the mods?

Well, this effects me greatly. Going to have to start contributing instead of lurking now.

This all seems fairly straightforward to me. The forum does not drive any type of income or revenue for IH, it was a perk for enthusiasts who wanted to gather and participate in a community. There’s no responsibility on the part of IH to provide the forum at all, much less a marketplace. The forum helps IH stand out in the industry by creating a kinship among its fans and customers. IMO the MP should be viewed as a benefit for active and invested forum members. If all you want to do is sell and buy stuff, there are plenty of other platforms where you can do just that. This place is for the rest of us and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with our wanting to keep it exclusive. It’s not like we’re trying to turn away people who want to use the forum as it’s intended.

We love interaction, that is what this place is about. But we don't want to force people to post if they don't want to, every society has individuals who like to talk and those who don't, but unfortunately, every society has individuals who steal, one of the reasons for these changes is to make it harder for scammers to steal from you.

I'm from a small area–hard to find others into this hobby/lifestyle. Like a few others have stated previously, this decision made me try to make more of an effort to contribute more as well.
