IHSH-62-ind - 12oz Wabash Western Shirt - Indigo
-
@weftyarn I’m rocking a 70.5cm sleeve on my XXL and could still ideally do with and extra 0.5-1cm . Because I have stupid long stupid arms.
Is it the opening ‘along’ the sleeves that is the primary concern for you? @FlavourFade also noted a ‘bulkiness’ to the sleeves. Mine probably the same? (See above). Out at the moment so can’t compare with measurements.
-
Thanks for the quick feedback! It is only the part between shoulder seem and elbow that is concerning me… Which is exactly the part that doesn’t show up in the charts so that’s why I had no clue. No one to blame here except me, I should have had a closer look at the pictures probably. They all seem to show that ballooning upper arm.
-
@weftyarn My XL Indigo Wabash has the largest measurements of all of my xl shirts. It has the longest body, the longest sleeves, widest sleeve openings, and to your concern, the largest upper arm area.
I will say you can wash it hot and get some shrinkage but it does relax back out close to original dimensions. I am fine with this one fitting a bit oversized, as sizing down would be too snug p2p for me. I would probably feel better in the work shirt version xl dim's but I haven't taken action. I just avoid a really slim pair of jeans and i roll with it.
In the end, will you reach for it if you don't fully embrace it?
-
@jordanscollected exactly the feedback I needed mate! Will return it and hope the XL works / have a look at the Work Shirt dims.
Thanks for your help. This is one of the reasons I just love this forum. -
@weftyarn I have both from last year's batch and that's it, the black Wabash is definitely smaller and shorter than the indigo, at least in size XS, it was good for me, the second one I got the black one, I feel definitely better on me, but in the end I love them both, one for the color and one for the size.
-
@weftyarn these shirts will shrink a good amount over the first few washes. Mine was pretty baggy when I first got it. It fits much shorter in both sleeve and body now. Probably lost .75-1” in both. The chest and waist came in some too. The ballooning calmed a lot too as the fabric softens. But I don’t recall the ballooning ever being an issue I noticed much when mine was new.

Mine has arrived. I went for my typical IH size L. Very happy with the fit. Similar to other opinions shared in the recent days, the shirt is a bit bulky in the arms but I do not see it as an issue/problem. I will share more photos here or in the WAYWT thread tomorrow or the day after.
-
If it helps anyone here are the measurements pre and post shrinkage. It was a bit long in the body and sleeve when it first arrived so I gave it a 40C wash in the machine (after a soak), then did the same at 60C as I wanted a touch more shrinkage. It's pretty good now.
-
How does a hot wash affect the fade potential? I think a little less length and tighter sleeves would be perfect but I am afraid of losing a lot of evo in the progress
@goldstone0 thanks for your work!
-
Got mine yesterday in my usual XXL. Really happy for the pimped snaps! Did a hot soak and 60C wash and indeed some nice and significant shrinkage. Much better arm length and upper arm balloon improves! @FlavourFade I am not a contrast fade fanatic, but I don't see much marbeling even after a long hot wash! Would not be overly concerned (I personally see this as a kickstart for fading).
-
@Tobi thanks for the info! The arm ballooning was the only thing putting me off mine but I’ll give this is a go instead of returning it now
-
@DeeDee85 i’ve had the same with my 361-BLK although this is not a wabash shirt but due the dye, starch and rigidness of the fabric the arms we’re almost hulk beefiness and ballooning. It all settles and after a few wears you’re good to go. My wabash experience is also that it shrinks a bit during the first washes but in the end it’s just me 2 cents.
-
@Heavy_blue also taken on board, thank you! I’ll get a few wears in before I warm wash it then, and see if the arm balloons calm down. If not, into the wash it goes
-
@Tobi thanks buddy! I think I am gonna wear it a bit and then go for a hot soak and wash. I usualy aim for high contrasts but for the wabash I think it would look pretty cool with vintage like fades and just "worn"

Solid shirt— classic

Love this fabric on the western silhouette dearly - May I request the next batch be for more moderately / shorter height folks? Looking to wear untucked.. ️ so close to pulling the trigger but that 30 inch back length is just not suited for my height. ️
-
@Dressbasedonmood I doubt the classic western silhouette IH is known for will be altered in such a core fabric. You could have the body length shortened if you'd like but you may lose the chainstitching and the side gussets. I did that very thing on a xxl Nine Lives shirt (the body length was close to 32") and was extremely happy with the results.

Unless we have really screwed up a pattern, we wont change anything drastic (like core measurement) between production runs. And in any case we would change the lot number because basically it is a different thing. So what you are asking in reality is to make new shirt an “S” version of an existing model, we are simply not large enough a company to do that I am afraid .

I think the hem is lock stitched. Looks like it. I would assume the chain stitching would be able to be largely preserved if you shortened the hem.
