IHSH-62-ind - 12oz Wabash Western Shirt - Indigo
-
What's up all,
Newbie to the IH forum and the IHSH-62 is my very first brand new IH garment.
Should I have another try with exact 90C? I wish I have 1" shorter in sleeve & length.
Hi Lucas, and welcome to the forum.
10mins won’t do much to any garment, and certainly not this shirt.
Agitation plays a big role in shrinkage, so time and movement as well as moisture and heat are needed. The shrinkage mentioned earlier is obtained using a washing machine on a low spin.
Either way, 1” is very unlikely to happen. There isn’t that much shrinkage in this shirt. Half an inch at most. Bear in mind that the shoulders and chest will also shrink.
As for indigo loss, do not worry. Any indigo leaving the fabric will be excess indigo and won’t affect your fades. In fact the IH Wabash loves being washed and that is one of the wonderful ways it ages.

Hi Neph,
Thanks a lot for the detailed information.
Yesterday did some arm exercise to crease the sleeve, it did shorten the length.
Thinking I'll just put it on wear&worn anyways until I need a wash.
Will do the best to wear it hope the cool season comes soon!Cheers.

The more I look at this faded sample here, the more it makes me to want this shirt! So far, I'm just loyal to my 246-NIN, but I doubt, I could get it as faded as this one here.

That’s exactly what got me! I scrolled through here and saw the beat up, beautiful light blue faded examples and just had to have one. I was surprised to see how dark the shirt is in person when it’s new. Looking forward to beating mine up once it gets cool enough. You should grab one!!

Late to the party but I ordered mine yesterday. I cant wait now after reading 58 pages and seeing how well it wears !

Yesterday I gave the shirt a good but gentle brush wash (with brush Im using for my boots, I think its made with pig’s hair). Now the white popped out nicely. Im washing it weekly, but the dirt was so deep penetrated, that I was confused last couple of weeks. The result is great!
I just tried my boot brush on a different shirt I'm working on and sure enough it lifted a lot of the dirt off (still unwashed). I was kind of surprised…kind of like a dry "wash" or perhaps better described as a brushing. Thanks for posting that idea.l, I'll try it with my wabash work shirt soon too once it gets a but dirtier.

I have hot washed and machine dried indigo wabash a number of times. There is a decent amount of shrinkage to be had. But please do soak the garment thoroughly before washing if you are going to put it in the machine. Use the shower head. And low spin too.
Otherwise everything @Alex_24 says is spot on.

What does soaking do before you put it in the washer ?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Giles,
Any idea on the likely restock date for a small?

No worries - thanks for the update.

Correct….It helps stop creasing in the washer which will form high abrasion spots....
I think it keeps the fabric from having uneven dye loss when it forms creases while being tossed around and/or spinning.

Just picked this shirt up in XXL (my normal IH shirt size) Gave it a nice hot soak and hot wash and was able to get some decent shrinkage. Love the fit of this shirt with the extra length and the tapering silhouette. The fabric is top notch as well. This thing is warm and feels like it's going to last a lifetime! One question. Has anyone tumble dried this shirt?
