They were indeed hemmed right away.  As for the length, I can't remember what I had them hemmed too, but visually and fit wise it doesn't seem like there was as shrinkage in the length.  The first wash, which was very hot, brought what little waist stretch (<1") there was back down to the original dimension.

I did get them a bit longer than my normal inseam though, to allow for a little bit of stacking and the option of a small cuff if desired.

I just got these in yesterday. The fit on the waist 36 feels like a tailored cut for my legs. I've never had a pair of jeans that fit this nice. I'll throw up fit pics in a week or so, I want them to settle, so it's not so boxy from the knee to hem.
