Watches - another OCD problem

@Graeme I used to love Hodinkee back in 2015-2018. But yea the stories really fell off with only a couple good ones per year.
I too see that they’re pushing Ben Clymer. Maybe they want to have a face to the company and seem more grass roots? I’ll still cherry pick articles by writers whom I’m a fan of. James Stacey is maybe the only one left…But I don’t trust the integrity of Hodinkee like I used to.
Anybody ever seen Perezcope on Instagram? He seems to debunk A LOT of the vintage watch market’s hype and doesn’t seem to be much a fan of Ben Clymer and Hodinkee himself. It’s interesting to read his articles. And to see that ex-Hodinkee writers follow his account and like his posts.
Dean Delray just put out a podcast with Dan Spitz who is a watchmaker. Great episode and lots of good insight into a master watchmakers opinion on the watch industry.

@PJ That blue is fantastic!

I’ve been wearing my omega speedy almost every day. But I’ve started getting the itch to get something else to go with it. While I really like the white dial smp, the sd43 is also calling my name. I was near an ad on a work trip and tried on the 43 again. It’s such a nice fit for me. So I’ve asked to be on the list but who knows how long that could be. I like 43 a lot more than the James Cameron.

@kkibbey23 The wait for an SD43 should not be too long. It is one of the pieces in the sports collection that is a little less in demand. Good luck and I am looking forward to hearing how your hunting goes!

Patek has unveiled a new watch, the Cubitus. It's basically a square Nautilus. Here's a photo comparing the new and the old stolen from Ben Clymer's excessively long piece for Hodinkee.

not sure how I feel about the new shape. it's at odds with me.

Won't be saving up for one of these....

@Giles
To quote this website: https://calibercorner.com/trump-watches-caliber-tx07/'with a target audience that may not be particularly well-versed in watches, or value it beyond the materials and movement for other reasons'
That's about as tactful as you can say it.

I got the impression that Thierry Stern was concerned that Patek would become a one-trick pony if the Nautilus was allowed to dominate its sales, in the same way that Audemars Piguet is just about the Royal Oak these days.
But I'm not convinced that scrapping your hottest model and replacing it with something that's not as good is a smart commercial move. Then again, he's a billionaire and I'm not, so he must know something, right?

Got myself something nice this weekend

Beyond excited Had a surprising call last night from the Rolex ad I visited a few weeks ago. They had revived my Sea dweller 43 and it was ready if I was! So I made the trip today to pick it up. Such a great experience that I will always remember. Its very different than my speedy and I feel they are the best of both worlds. Really happy and shocked with how fast it took to come in. Originally she had mentioned it would be mid next year. So less than 3 weeks is pretty sweet. I may or may not have shown interest in gmt too

@kkibbey23 Great watch and big congratulations!! May you have many years of health and happiness with it.

My baby is back...
Blancpain, London wanted USD300 to ship it to me. My answer was short and sweet.
So, @Danny-RnH very kindly picked it up for me. The new Rivet and Hide, London shop is but a few 100 meters from the Blancpain shop.
He shipped it to me in what I can only describe as a very non-watch containing parcel. On that note, Rolex used to lose a lot of watches in transit when the packaging proudly advertised what was within - Yeah, go figure MENSA candidates.....
Thank you Danny.

@Giles Beautiful watch! Looks ready to go fishing with you
