Yeah Finn dude you should totally give kick boxing a try. I've been out since December and its driving me absolutely insane.
my brother did go to classes for like 2years…should have joined him back then! now I'll see what I can do about it...I somehow think that I wouldn't even be that bad at it

Just stumbled on this thread. I've been going to Muay Thai for about a year and a half. Totally addicted. Helped me shed a few stubborn pounds, better than that it's just fun. My trainer is Sakasem "The Punisher" Kanthawong. Such a nice guy. 3x World Champ with 250 fights without being knocked out. He is also training Scott Jorgenson who is facing Faber in the next UFC fight.
Here is a highlight of him in his prime.

Participated in a Muay Thai demonstration at the local Buddhist temple. It was a late Thai new year festival. First time sparring in front of a crowd.
After pic with one of the monks and Sakasem "The Punisher" Kanthawong. My daughter has the mean fight face in the front.
Changed into my MBB's to enjoy the rest of the festivities.

That looks like an amazing location for some demo/sparring action!

Picked up a new pair of 12 oz bag gloves. My all around gloves (16 oz) were getting pretty beat up. I've been really impressed with Twins. Great quality and fits my fist pretty well.

i use a pair of 16 oz twins for sparing and 16oz top kings for bag work
found the top kings went flat on me really fast
havent used the twins much due to the fucked ankle but love the feel on them
had some of the hyabusa kanpeki's, loved the closer system hated the rest of the glove
was thinking about some fairtex heavy hitters for my next bag/pad gloves
tried some on and LOVED the way they fit
what site did you order from summerhays? -
Fairtex are nice. I use their headgear and love it. My shin guards are Top Kings, but I've never used their gloves. I went through MuayThaiStuff.com. Shipping was kind of spendy, but at least I received it quickly. It was 3 days from Thailand to Utah.

depending what im after i use these two sites
http://www.muaythai-fighting.com/

good prices and they track everything you buy, so you get a discount based on how much you've ordered over timehttp://www.muaythaifactory.com/
great selection of raja shorts (love raja shorts) and good prices, plus they will do custom anything for you
very very fast shipping -

@choco i tore a ligament and a tendon in my ankle way back in 2011
doctors didn't take it seriously they just kept saying it was a sprain
i was rolling it 6+ times a day just walking on flat ground.
so finally a doctor took it seriously and found missing cartilage
she send me to a orthopedic surgeon who then dismissed it back to a sprain (this is almost a year after and rolling it 6+ times a day)
so started doing physio, didnt work and didnt work
went back to the orthopedic surgeon but the day before i ran into a friend who is the operating room nurse and i explain to him whats going on, he says "sounds like you tore a ligament"
next day the doc "are you robs friend?" and then proceeds to tell me word for word what my buddy had said
so mri and such reveals the tore ligament and tendon
still doing physio this whole time (thousands of dollars out of pocket)
so he wants to cut the ligament and clean up the cartilage
ankle gets stronger finally before surgery
so he ends up just cleaning up the cartilage (but leaves a big chunk floating between my skin and the ligament that goes across the top on your ankle joint )
fast forward to present
i'm missing 20% of my cartilage in that ankle and had another scope done last tuesday. they did micro fracturing to get bone to grow in and fill in some of the missing cartilage
