John Lofgren (Speedway)

Glad to hear I am not the only struggling to get in there. I will wait to see how it develops. If the struggle continues for the next one or two months I might have a cobbler stretch them as well. For now I use the old plastic bag trick or use a shoe horn, it helps but still is far from just hopping in.
-
Ah yep, the plastic bag — know it well
Curious if anybody's had a similar experience with Wescos. I love engineer boots but the Lofgrens being my first pair, I've wondered if others are also hard to get on.

I love these boots. Just a couple of miles on them now. The leather is buttery soft and ages beautifully, although this shifter on the bike scuffs them quite fast.
Sizing can be tricky. In case it helps, the JL are a 10 (stamped inside). I wear a 9 in RW Iron Ranger. They have the same length, but the JL are certainly wider, which is good for me since the IR are rather narrow for my feet. Getting in these JL's however, is quite a struggle having a high arch.
Looking into some Mr Lou's. Anyone has both and could help with sizing? Here ya go

That’s pretty interesting… I’m surprised he described the Lofgrens as true to size. I wear a 13 in 95% of shoes, and I wear a 12 in the Lofgrens. I was also reading somewhere last night that Wescos are a little more true to size. I think if I ever get a pair, I’ll have to just order from somewhere I can easily return em if they don’t fit. Seems like a lot of varying info out there.
-
Yep, that’s it. I could fit in a 9.5 Lofgren, actually would be mostly considered as perfect fit for me, but wasn’t available and a 10 is still no issue at all (appr. 3/4 inch from longest toe to end of boot space) The Wescos I would try in 9.5E and 10E. My Brannock is a 10E on the right foot and a 9E on the left.

These guys just arrived today and I am stoked. I was real worried about sizing, as I am a 6.5D for my right foot and closer to a 6 on the left. Most of my chelsea style boots are all EU 38/39 and varies between manufacturers and my RW Iron Rangers and Blacksmiths are also a US 6.5, a bit roomy without an insole but with a bit of insole they fit great, with the widest part right at the ball of my foot. I ordered the Lofgrens in 6.5, which was the last Burgundy pair(or wait till December for a restock). With wigwam airmax thin socks they are snug and the width fits the ball of my foot perfectly with the toebox having a bit of room but not too much, decent amount of heelslip though. With proper boot socks they fit like a glove up front and it reduces the heel slip down to about 1/4". Time to wear them and break em in to see how they fit and form to my feet. Hope that helps any other tiny feet people out there a bit with sizing.
The leather and build on these boys are exceptional and have to be seen in person! Can't wait to rock em all fall.

Well after wearing them for a bit, I probably could have sized down a half size, so i added the cork insoles from my redwings in and now they fit perfectly and are the most comfortable boots i own already, only to get better with time!
-
Those look great, and speaking from experience, I can tell you it's a whole lot better to be a little big with Lofgren engineers than a little small. I've had mine for several years and they're still a bitch to get on. Glad the insoles dialed in the fit for you!
-
Thanks man! Was worried about the too big/small thing. The thread here helped a lot, tiny size doesnt help either, but it's nailed now! Your comment makes me way more confident about it as well.
