Congrats! Those look amazing.

Thank you @summ3rhays Haven’t stopped wearing them since I got them Friday. Amazed at how fast they broke in and became super comfortable. Look great with my 555-02, cuffed or un cuffed.

@Appfaff are those just regular black cxl service boots? Lookin' so good!

Thanks @popvulture - this is actually the NAVY CXL - it has a ton of pull up, and the rough-out side is much more blue still than the smooth out side, which I have conditioned and waxed.
The leather has a ton of pull up, and the creases highlight bright blue, until I polished them, and now the cracks have white polish in them lol - c'est la vie - a good rainstorm and they will be back to normal I gather.
These have a basic midsole and red danite sole - I'll need to resole them at some point, and will add a full leather midsole, and a vibram 705 sole plus an extra heal stack when the time comes to get a bit more of an M-43 vibe out of them, as they are a bit too "dainty" for most of my pants.. look great with chinos, but I like my boots a bit beefier.
Giles has these made custom for a few forum members back in the day, and I was able to receive them from one of the original owners nearly new.

Ha, was gonna say I thought the soles looked pretty beefy, which I like! I have a pair of Oak St trench boots in black CXL that look a lot like this, though not quite as good. I love the way the toe has gotten some good creases and is turning up in yours. I need to wear mine more but I've naturally gotten more psyched about a pair of Vibergs and some Lofgrens I've picked up since then.

@popvulture my brother @FormulaPfaff has the Trench Boot and side by side, they look almost identical. What I will say is the biggest different is that Viberg used an unstructured toe on these, so it flattened very quickly, where as the oak streets have a much more "formed" toe box - less vintage look, but easier to dress them up for longer.
I believe the Oak Streets use a slightly thicker heel stack between the soles and heels as well, so the overall silhouette is a bit beefier on the oak strees (which I actually prefer). My biggest issue with Viberg is their leather seems to always be a bit thinner/more pliable than Wescos thick cut leather. In this case, it means my heel cup has shifted a bit from my supinated stride, which I don't care for too much.. an issue I've never had with my Wescos.
Overall these boots are comfortable and had little to no break in, but what that usually means, is not much thick cut leather was used in the footbed (from what I've come to learn over the years).
Still beautiful boots and I don't mind being reckless in them lol

Ahh, right on! That's interesting. My one pair of Vibergs are the Snake Oil Provisions natural cxl side zips and they are significantly beefy in terms of leather… I was actually sorta surprised at how stiff they felt when I first got them. They've relaxed a bit for sure and have gotten more comfortable, but definitely the most break-in time of any boots I've gotten in recent years. I think it's because they're maybe more motorcycle-focused and were spec'd with a bit more heft. My Oak Streets were pretty comfortable right out of the box, but also have been slow to evolve, I guess somewhere in the middle of the spectrum.

@popvulture ooo those are sexy for sure! I love a smooth pull on of zip side boot. I have a few pairs of western boots that would definately get more wear is they were zip sides… obviously country singers have noticed the same thing as nearly everyone on the CMT awards last ight was wearing zip side western or chelsea style boots lol

Hahaha nice – man I used to wear cowboy boots all the time in my 20s when I lived in NYC of all places, then quit wearing them as soon as I moved to TX :D. I've been thinking of getting a pair again recently, though… I'd love just some plain black Luccheses. That's funny about the CMT Awards, though — I guess it makes sense, seeing that country starts have been dressing more almost mainstream rock for a bit now.
