@Denimhead-0 nice. What leather is that? Reminds me of my black service boots, a matte calf leather.
Actually on closer look maybe that the waxy commando from Stead?

@Denimhead-0 310 club!! Aren’t they so damn comfortable???
One day a tasty leather will entice me into a second pair!! -

I picked up a pair of Service Boots from the Archive Sale, although the transaction didn't go smoothly. My bank blocked my debit card, and before I could get them to unblock it, the sale was closed. Fortunately, Viberg were keen for me to buy them, so their customer service team emailed me an invoice the following day, and I managed to pay for them.
Then the pair of slides I tagged onto the order were out of stock, Viberg suggested an alternative colour (grey instead of maroon), then they thought those were sold out, before finding them again!
Despite all this, the boots arrived this morning. They've built on the 1035 last with Ridgeway. The uppers are Oryx, which is a South African antelope, and has scars from its life in the wild. It looks a bit like one of those badly distressed leather jackets that were popular in the nineties. They fit comfortably, maybe a bit snug around the little toe, but they'll give and be perfect before too long.

Thanks @goosehd. Viberg's customer service was good, and I'm very glad that I got a pair.
I've been after a pair of Vibergs for a while, and generally they're all built on the 2030 last, which I don't get on with. Or they sell out immediately in size 13, like the style on the 2040 last that I really liked. Or, more often, they don't even make them in my size. (If Rivet and Hide do another made-to-order event, I'm going to try to get them to remake the Jungle Boot with a stitch-down sole.)

@Graeme I have a pair of Chukka boots in the Dark Olive Janus Suede and love them. Highly recommend the material if you can chase down a pair in your size and last.
If you're subscribed to their mailing list, you will often get notice of pre sales. Quite a few times, I have seen sizes sell out in minutes for hot releases in difficult sizes. By the time it's released to the public those sizes are long gone.
-
@goosehd I'm on the mailing list, but I'm also in Australia, so the release times for Viberg are normally at 2 am or 3 am, when I'm asleep.
I'll keep my eyes out for a pair of the Dark Olive Janus Suede boots, but I'm currently between jobs, and I've got enough pairs of footwear to keep me going.

Hey Guys,
I found a beautiful pair of Viberg Chukkas online for sale. They are Size 10 and the seller says he wears Red Wing 10.5 us with all lasts.
I have been wearing 9.5 in Iron Rangers and 10 in Moc toes but could size up +0.5 without any issues.
It will be a gamble no matter what I do but since I have zero experience with Viberg, what do you think?

Drove down island to Victoria, BC today and stopped in at Viberg Boots when I got to town. I wanted to figure out my sizing with the different lasts as I am interested in pair of boots in the 2040 last from a shop online. Rick was great with answering all my questions and figured out my size in Vibergs. I was able to try a few different boots that were in my size and fell hard for a pair of Muschio Horsebutt service boots ~ 2030 last. They felt great on my feet and are definitely a step up from my Red Wings. They are new old stock and are discounted nicely.
Does anyone have any experience with Viberg’s horsebutt boots? Any advice or recommendations for care? These really caught me off guard in a good way.

@Denman-John nice pickup! The only thing I ever use on my horsehide boots is Saphir Renovateur which I get from The Hanger Project (kirbyallison.com).

@John-Galt Thank you very much for the info. I haven’t picked them up yet. They were kind enough to hold them for me while I think it over this weekend. Right now it’s 50/50 but I’m sure I could convince myself. The other pair I was originally thinking about are in marine field roughout with a Commando sole and more than twice the price. This pair may be my Viberg gateway drug … decisions to be made …

@Denman-John Horsebutt is my leather of choice for most non-dress boots; can’t go wrong with a horsebutt.

Well worn, added some James B Young kangaroo laces(brown) the other day

Antique Phoenix w/ James B Young RO laces

After a couple of trips down to Viberg in Victoria and way too much overthinking, I finally ordered these boots tonight. The Muschio horsebutt service boots that I posted above really caught me by surprise and were/are very tempting. It ultimately came down to getting what I consider a grail pair of boots for me over a great deal. Don’t get me wrong, the Muschio boots are great at any price, but I’ve lusted over a pair of roughout boots with a commando sole for a long time. These boots ticked all the boxes for me. These pictures are from @brooklynclothing and I’ll post more when the boots arrive.

@Denman-John Those are going to age so nicely.
