Getting iron heart jeans taperd
-
Has anyone had there 21oz selvage jeans tapered.I have done a little reading online in various selvage forums and the response is always just buy a pair of jeans that have the tapper you want.Easier said then down when you wear a 38 inch or above waist. For me an 8 inch flat 16 inch is the perfect size leg opening and is almost impossible to find in a 38 inch waist .Im thinking it can be done on the inside of the leg so the selvage will not be affected.I have a pair of 301s 38 inch waist with an 8 1/2 leg opening i would like to reduce to an 8 inch.Has anyone done it,where and how did it turn out.

I have had tapering done. Both on the outside and inside leg. The inside option is good but in my experience you will lose some in the thigh too. Had mine done by the denim Dr in the UK

it's all personal preferences guys. why should i buy a complete different cut if i like all the measurements on my jeans, except for the hem which is too wide!
taper the fecker and all is perfect…no need to search for another cut if it takes that little effort to get to your perfect pair of jeans!? makes no sense! -
And he has a good point - I also feel like the leg opening gets too big in bigger sizes. Not a specific IH Problem, though. I 've seen tapered Jeans that looked perfectly fine and you couldn't tell they've been altered.

Don't worry about tapering your Iron Heat jeans, buy Iron HEART!
Problem solved

I am with @Finn666 on this subject. I had my Mbb's tapered and to me made them perfect. I am constantly searching for a pair of jeans that i don't have to touch and all the measurements are perfect. That to me is the grail.

I have also had work done to IH 21oz by The Denim Doctor in Manchester, like spitfiredealer, and I guess what he does can be done by other tailors skilled in working with heavier denim. You can get full leg taper along the inside leg seam which preserves the selvedge seam or you can get a taper from the knee down, along either the inner or outer (selvedge) seam.
In my opinion this is second best when compared to finding the right IH fit but i understand that for some people this is a great solution when their perfect fit is still to materialise. -
I dunno if i imagined this but was there not talk of the jeans being made to measure the same at say 34" and 37". So it tapered to 34 and then stayed the same for the extra length? @Giles

AMAZING!! What models out of interest?

Tinker with your jeans all you want. I had two cuts altered and wasn't satisfied with it afterwards. It might be a small alteration, but in the end you modify a thoughtfully constructed pair of jeans.
And Rafa: keep your immature comments to yourself will you. If my input isn't helpful, by all means, disregard my posts.

Name calling probably isn't the right thing to do, but I agree with Rafa as well. You should do whatever you want to your jeans. Everybody has a different body so there is no reason to assume that any one cut will fit you correctly or everybody in the same way (regardless of how well thought out the design is). For example, it looks like Rafa has huge thighs. Obviously there is risk involved, but to some people it's worth it. Let them worry about it.
