White's Boots
-
Sounds like a solid boot!

Found this pair on Rakuten:
SJ Red Dog Rough-Out
-
I really don't get the Japanese obsession with two inch thick soles on boots.
-
Love red dog rough-out will be my next pair but on single with 430 vibram and quarter lowered block heal, no toe box, 8" high, brass eyelets.

Prob has to do with their average height being like 5'6" ish
Those red dogs do look nice tho

I kinda like it, purely from an aesthetic point of view (Unpopular opinion?).

Story Time.
I was at Ikea today, and the wife needed to use the bathroom. I sit down on the bench to wait, look over and there's an old guy sitting next to me. Mid 60s, maybe older, with a big bushy white moustache. Before I had even sat down I had scoped his boots. They were definitely Whites. I looked over nonchalantly and said "nice boots." After he said thanks, I asked him if they were Whites. He seemed surprised that I knew what they were, but began to talk about them. They looked like a black dress leather, definitely well worn, with the cuban heel and a vib 430. The toe box was definitely not celastic or steel, and it had the more pointy look of a Viberg, so I'm assuming maybe the Farmer/Rancher?
He said that they were great for standing all day at the farmer's market (he was a farmer with a real texas drawl, but living in Ohio), and great for walking "if you're not in a big hurry." They aren't good "for climbin' hills or rushin' around"
I wish my phone wasn't dead, because I would have taken a pic. He said he had worn Red Wings until 1980, and that this was is second pair of Whites (he'd had them since 2000, worn them every day, and had 1 rebuild)
God damn if that didn't re-ignite my desire for a pair of red dog roughout bounty hunters…

Maybe a "packer" - one of their boots is like a lace up cowboy boot…
edit. here it is http://www.bakershoe.com/display-product.cfm/product/vintage-packer-by-whites-boots
