IH, On The Streets / Missed Connections

Central London spot: East Asian dude with a black cap, white hooded top and an Adidas backpack wearing what looked like 666-OD heading from the Brunswick Centre near Russell Square towards International Halls. Would've stopped to yell "Hey, Iron Heart!" but was in a real rush. Poor excuse I know…
Show thyself.

Nice! Yes, "show thyself"!

Second IH spot in London in the space of two weeks. This time near Oxford Circus up from the Liberty department store. A shout out to forum member Shego wearing 666s. Nice to meet you dude. Enjoyed the chat.

Because St. Louis was ranked one of the worst dressed cities in the country, I have only seen one other person wearing Iron Heart. I was at REI and saw a fellow with a pair of 634s in the midst of the 80s colored Levis and Victorias Secret "Pink" stretch pants. My wife even noticed them. I was so proud.
-
I wonder if he's the guy always selling Flat Head size 46 shirts on the bay?
-
Here is some IH in St. Louis…
-
^What the hell did I miss in St. Louis tonight?! Or is this an old pic?
-
No it was yesterday…I run with a pretty rough crowd sometimes;)
It's from the Transworld convention thats been happening this week in downtown St. Louis
-
That's pretty wild!

Saw a guy this afternoon (thursday)in Savmor leather on wall st. in LA looking at veg tan hides wearing new looking Iron Hearts. On the forum?

Not 100% Iron Heart related, but… today a coworker that I've worked with for almost a year, and who was in NYC over the weekend, said "hey, have you ever heard of Flat Head?" This was so unexpected that I didn't even know what he was talking about for a second. "Flat Head?" I responded. "Yeah, check it out" he says and hands me his wallet. "Wait, this is a Flat Head wallet? What the hell do you know about Flat Head? Where did you get this?" I ask. "I picked it up at Self Edge in New York." "What?! How do you know about Self Edge?" "Oh I've been to Self Edge in LA and San Francisco too. I just bought a pair of Sugar Canes from them."
Mind Blown. We can't wear jeans at work so I had no idea. Almost a year working with this guy and he apparently has been wearing an Iron Heart belt the whole goddamn time, and has Sugar Canes and Studio D'Artisans, and is familiar with Flat Head, Iron Heart, Real Japan Blues, and god knows what else. This is literally the only person I know who has any idea about Japanese denim. Crazy.
-
^ That is pretty crazy. I wish I could find a like-minded soul at my office to discuss denim and other IH stuff.
On a somewhat related note, I have "false positive" sightings of IH gear on a semi-regular basis. I think this is what psychologists refer to as "perceptual expectancy" : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Set_(psychology)
Basically, you're more likely to perceive things to which you are attentive or attuned or, in my case, those things which you are hoping to see.
A couple of weeks ago I was certain the guy that brushed past me in a crowded corridor was wearing the blue (cookie monster) IHSH-20. I had to catch myself from yelling out "Cookie Monster!" as he walked past. On closer inspection it turned to be just a regular blue-check flannel. My intense interest in his shirt as he past by me drew an odd look in response.

On a different note, I still don't know who the guy was who came up to me in Feb this year asking if I was Snowy and was I wearing Iron Heart and he liked my pictures on the Forum. I assumed I'd get a PM when he got home as he's a reader, not an active poster. Have not heard. That blew my mind something serious. Was with my family at the time as well and had to explain being recognised by my jeans to my folks.

I had a similar experience once, while I was at DC4 Berlin with beautiful_freak and a sufu reader recognized us both. Not as surprising as being caught on street, but still…
