It's those little details that are part of the reason I and others love Iron heart especially when you consider the high price of iron heart. The flat head has little details like the stamped custom-made brass buckles on the belts and boots. Stamping their logo into their belts and not just using a gold ink stamp that wears off. Sounds petty I know.

Hey All,
Hoping for some honest feedback:
I recently discovered the 888 to be the most comfortable fit, due to my thick thighs, but wondering if straight cuts are really my only option…As you can see in the pics, the taper below the knee (from the side) causes a ‘carrot’ looking silhouette.
I also have some 634s which I love, but the leg opening on them feels closer to a boot cut.
Any suggestions or feedback? Size up? Different cut?
Thank you!

Fit looks good to me. But then again 888 is my current favorite cut.

Working out how a new pair of jeans will look before they are worn for a while and washed is a perennial issue.
I think these look fine on you and will only get better as they mould and soften.
The oft-cited "diaper butt" is almost always because the wearer does not understand what will happen with wear. If I worried how my arse looked in a new pair of jeans, I'd be wearing spandex pants now…..

Dude, that's a really good-looking fit. If it looks this nice when the fabric is still new, it will be perfect once it settles. Personally, I don't get the carrot-vibes in the slightest from that, and I'm a) brutally honest as well as b) really sensitive to the carrotness.
So thumbs up from me!

@Ceeds I'm in agreement with everyone else. The cut looks damn good on you and no carrot cut look at all. Ultimately you're the one that has to be happy with them but they look terrific, really.

I'm trying to visualize the carrot look but i'm not seeing it from your pics either.

First let me say: those look great, and this is definitely the cut for you.
As for carrot-fit vibes, I don’t get them—but I almost never do, and I don’t see the problem, anyway. What is everyone’s objection to a relaxed top block with an aggressive taper. I really like that look. Might be because my “assets” can fill out even the most relaxed fit at the top, though.

I guess this would depend on how you wear your jeans. I made adjustment to my tag size as I needed a smaller waist because the jeans sit higher up as a result of the rise. Inseam stayed the same.
But I suppose that if one wore the 888 jeans at the same waist level and let the top block hang (sagging, basically) you might need a shorter inseam.

Hey Neph, I had a feeling it wouldn't be that simple And thanks for bringing up the point on the waist. Let me make some calculations on what size would work best at a higher waist-line.

Making calculations is a big part of coming prepared but as you consider sizing down, think of this guy. You don't want to be this guy, higher waist or no higher waist:
Photo lifted from another messageboard without the guy's permission but I'm sure he wouldn't mind setting a (warning) example. The model in the photo is LVC something with high waist and apparently some room for sizing down.
Having tried the 888S before, I would wear my normal size… and as a matter of fact I will, as I shall cop the UHR version before they get extinct.
