Nabbed the last xl from SE. thanks to @johnny5799 and @champ for the sizing/fit info. Super excited to get this.

Question, even though this type III is 14oz the SE site says it's more like 16 after the overdye process. Would you guys say this is accurate? I'm looking at this jacket as a 3 season piece and I think 16oz should be sufficient for my needs.

It feels sturdy but not heavy. It's a fantastic layering piece. Im in Atlanta and I see myself wearing this for 3 seasons for sure which I don't think would've been an option in the 19oz or heavier options. You're gonna love this jacket.

I think it will be a perfect 3 season piece. Perfect for layering as was mentioned. I would say it's accurate that it's more like 16oz yes.

And Iron Heart’s 14oz is pretty tightly woven to begin with, so it should be a great layering piece.

Got my 14oz type III today and i'm really impressed. At first I was concerned about the sleeves being too long. They were unbuttoned when I took the jacket out of the box and when I tried it on the sleeves felt really long, but once I buttoned them it wasn't an issue. Dig the length, the way the buttons are dyed and that it works over a t-shirt and a hoodie. So glad I was able to grab the last one in stock. I was debating between this, the 18oz od typeIII and the 526Lod and the 14oz won out mainly because of the lighter weight. I get hot very easily so I wanted a jacket that would give me more wear time. Look forward to busting this bad boy out in the Spring

Glad you like it and it sounds like you nailed the size perfectly considering it works over a T or layered over a thicker sweater/flannel. That's just how mine fits too. Nice score

I got sizing help from @johnny5799 and @champ both of whom have similar builds as me
But the thing that I like the most is the length. I have a couple of other trucker jackets and they're shorter in length, so I often find myself pulling at the hem to get them to sit lower on my body, of course, that doesn't work. Being a modified type III is great because the length sits naturally over my belt and I won't look silly when I wear a long shirt. I'm not a fan of the short jacket with long shirt underneath look

Looks great. This has been one of my most worn pieces this winter.

Oddly enough, it's 38 degrees and sunny out and I swear I was roasting in this jacket. I was gonna wear the ihm-29 but grabbed the type III instead

@gaseousclay lovely stuff. I really like the buttons on that, are they the standard IH copper ones like these?:

Tbh I’m not sure if it’s copper myself or just copper coloured, but do the ones on your jacket match the ones in the pic I posted?
I’m especially interested because the only think that irks me about my IH-526J-od is that I’d prefer the kind of button seen in the pic (and possibly on your jacket) to the silver coloured ones.

no, they don't. Brass perhaps?

@gaseousclay Even better, they look brilliant. Although I wonder if they are the same as on the pic but the OD process has stripped the outer layer. Either way, they are more in line with what I'd like on my type III's. Thanks for following up.

It's possible the OD process has stripped the outer layer but i'm not 100% sure. When I look at the buttons on my jacket the black overdye coats the buttons, but when I looked at pics of the IH-526Jod and IH-526Lod the buttons do not have the black overdye and look more silver. The overdye also shows up on the snap closures on my IHM-20.

They look like the usual IH hardware you can find for example on the 526J but after the OD-treatment and exactly like the buttons on the 526JOD.
OK… then my eyes are playing tricks on me. My IH-526J-od has obviously silver coloured buttons that have been tarnished during the OD’ing. Looks to me like GC’s buttons are more yellowish/brownish in colour, like brass.
