IH-1955S-OD - 21oz Selvedge Denim "1955" Straight Cut Jeans - OD Black
-
I recently picked up a pair of these and thought I’d spotlight this thread with a quick review/thoughts on one of my best fitting pair of IH denim. (it’s criminal there hasn’t been a post here in over 120 days)
My first foray into IH bottoms was with the 555 cut and I exclusively bought the different 555 iterations. I prefer a higher front/rear rise and thought the slim tapered cut was for me. I want my waist snug/tight from the drop and let the 1” stretch work it’s magic. The limiting factor for me with the 555 was the waist to knee measurements. Getting a snug waist in the 555 meant too strong of a taper at the knee so I never could achieve the fit I preferred after sizing up. :'(I dabbled with 888 but my thighs never filled out my tag size.
I was pleasantly surprised by the measurements on these. With the 1955s-od I get the rise and tight waist that I want. The thigh comes close to what I would be in the 555, same knee measurement in 634, and a hem that’s comparable to the tapered cuts (bonus| hem is just wide enough for my ihwe-po). The sizing on these check all of the boxes for me.
Definitely recommend and encourage you to analyze the measurements as you might be surprised by the silhouette of this ‘straight’ fit.
Shitty quality but better than nothing fit pics…

Solid fit, these look great, and it's true that it can take a while to figure all this out. The same cut will look like a different shape on someone with a different body. It's why model photos are sometimes unhelpful in imagining how clothes will look worn, and why the forum is great for seeing different body types wearing the various shapes.

Been tempted by this cut myself. They look awesome on you. Gonna hem them or keep the cuffs? Thanks for the writeup.

[While exploring cuts can be expensive it is fun too, and interesting.
This is an excellent point and appreciate the positive attitude of having fun with it. I get frustrated more than I should when a pair doesn’t fit the way that I want but it’s all part of the process.
Thanks](https://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=25391) #smfpackscodeWeft 4 Dead . Glad you found it helpful. I plan on rocking the cuff.

Well said. Photos are great to see how they look ‘out in the wild’ but I’ve learned over the years to just trust the measurements.

@Kirk great write up and you make a strong case for these.
While exploring cuts can be expensive it is fun too, and interesting. Having discovered the joys of the IH-463 and IH-634, I’m sure the 1955 will happen for me soon.
It's taken me a few years–-significant weight loss, back to something closer to my "historical weight"---to figure out how different cuts work for me, or don't. Yeah, it was a bit costly but with Iron Heart (and other real quality pieces) you can make back a few bucks in a sale if it goes south. All of my older, cheaper stuff I have just given away. I think of that as the greater loss since that stuff won't last no matter who uses it.
I'm not tall or lanky and, well, not young anymore, all of which factors into what I think works for me; I can wear jeans all the time, even at my desk-job. I've ventured into every cut except the boot (and won't likely go there). Initially I shied from the 1955, thinking it was maybe too wide but actually now like it just as much as 634. I've also sold off my experiments with 555 and 888 and for a "trim" style I prefer to go only as "far" as 666. 1955 in 25oz and in the incoming slubby–- that's what I hope to see someday. I much enjoyed @Kirk 's write up and reasoning aloud and think @neph93 makes a great point about how figuring it out–-takes a few tries and you lose a few as experience catches up to ideas---is really part of the fun. That's my experience for sure.
