@Clint_D The shirts arrived early and they are great. Descriptions were spot on too. Huge thanks! I've got my eye on the red flannel…

@Clint_D Messaged you about a few of the mediums, very interested in getting a chambray and a denim.

RE: IH-888S-21od - 21oz Selvedge Denim Medium/High Rise Tapered Cut Jeans - OD'd
Much obliged, especially given the inherently subjective nature of something like fit. I just find Japanese denim a little tough between sanforized, unsanforized, unsanforized but rinsed, etc. Really hard to know which combinations won't budge and which ones will stretch a lot. I guess I shouldn't be too concerned though - ill fitting jeans are what pushed me to go to my local shop Blue Owl in Seattle back in 2013 or 2014 which got me on the path. Never would've imagined I be reading forums and talking cut, color and fit with folks from around the world. Fun, fun hobby.

RE: IH-888S-21od - 21oz Selvedge Denim Medium/High Rise Tapered Cut Jeans - OD'd
Selfies are bad enough but selfies of new clothes that get posted to get other people's (strangers, no less!) opinions were a bridge too far.
I sure hope they don't stretch too much. Almost all of my jeans are too big in the waist which is why I've been shopping while cooped up at home.
@neph93 do these look snug enough per you advice? Think you were the guru who suggested that in the random question thread.

Thanks, appreciate the help. Pretty comfortable as is. Here's what they look like courtesy of photos from my daughter who thinks it's hilarious that I'm posting photos of myself like this.

RE: IH-888S-21od - 21oz Selvedge Denim Medium/High Rise Tapered Cut Jeans - OD'd
Somewhere else I'd read advice about getting them really snug because they stretch. These are my first IHs but other raws that weren't quite as snug in the waist stretched a ton and are now too big (Japan Blue, 3sixteen, N&F, etc.).
But yeah, I hear you, probably will stay put. I've been running a lot lately and probably can't keep that up indefinitely. Easier to do while working from home…

RE: IH-888S-21od - 21oz Selvedge Denim Medium/High Rise Tapered Cut Jeans - OD'd
Just got my delivery, really liking the OD which I'd never seen in person before. Question for you guys on the fit. I can button them easily - no wrestling with top button - but they're a little snug on the hips which is good. And they're a little uncomfortable sitting down (manageable but wouldn't like that feeling to last very long).
That said, I'm wondering if I should consider sizing down from a 30 to a 29. The thighs on the 30s are about as snug as I'd like given that they probably won't stretch a huge amount.
Would appreciate some guidance because doing an exchange would require incurring some additional shipping costs with an uncertain outcome. My best guess is that thighs wouldn't work and, even if they did, I'd need to keep the top button unbottoned for a little while.

Yes, should work without wifi but you may want or need to turn off your video.

RE: Random questions to which you seek an answer
Much obliged. Will do my best to go on the tighter side to start. Part of my challenge is that I really only have one pair that fits ok in the waist and I seem to get slight variations each time I measure, in part because the jeans seem to have more of a curved waistband now that they're broken in (loose weeve). Think I'm close enough now after many tries; using the IH way I get 31 inches so going to try the size 30. Definitely need a hem at some point but will wait until I get the sizing sorted out.
Did your ODs bleed much?

RE: Random questions to which you seek an answer
I'm clearly a bit of a waffler myself, so very much appreciated Neph. And I'm super glad you were the first to reply - was hoping that'd be the case.
Thanks for the guidance on the 633 in combination with the XHS. I was leaning toward the 888S-OD because I was a little intimidated by the prospect of taming the XHS as my first foray into the wonderful world of IH.
On the waist size, I confess I really don't know if I'm a 30 inch waist of not. I'd read your take on the OD being super stretchy which is why I was so interested in getting your take on which size to go with. My PBJs definitely are 15 inches the Blue Owl way, and maybe closer to 29-29.5 the SE way, but maybe that's why I'm not crazy about them. (They're not tight at all but not a relaxed fit either.) I was kinda thinking I'd order the 30s first, and if those aren't sufficiently tight, I'd return them and go for the 29. Also wondering if the 29 thighs would be sufficiently roomy - SE has a much bigger spread between the thigh sizes on their site (11.2 vs. 11.5) vs. IH's measurements. Go figure, they're normally pretty close.

RE: Random questions to which you seek an answer
I've thoroughly enjoyed reading all the great stuff in these forums and figured it was high time for me to get some advice. I decided to use part of my covid-mandated work-from-home schedule to break in my very first pair of Iron Hearts, so the question is, what's a good a first pair to get?
After way more research than I'd ever admit in public (easily 30+ hours perusing websites, IH forums, Reddit, SuFu, etc.), I've narrowed it down to either the 888S-OD or the SE 633-XHS. Here's my thought process and a bit of context. Hoping that some of you geekier, detailed types won't mind a longer missive. (And yes, I'm thinking of you Neph; love your posts btw.)
Here goes:
- While I like the classic 21oz. indigo, I figured I should try something that's pretty different from what I have today (current rotation includes PBJ SLB-019, 3sixteen 40BSP, JP 601, etc. all in traditional indigo)
- I generally need a little more room in the top block, and tend to find that either the waist is too big or the thigh/top block area too tight, which is why I'm drawn to the 888s and the SE 633s. I tried a pair of Ignition Works (stretch is probably a bad word here but was intrigued); the waist was fine but the rest was pretty tight. I have big calves and decent-sized thighs. My PBJs work fine except they're pretty tight around my calves, maybe because I've been running a lot lately because of all the social distancing.
- I prefer tapered and don't want my first pair to be something that I won't want to wear a lot of the time
- I'm intrigued by both the OD and IDBK and the only option in the 888 or 633 right now is the OD which does look super cool
- Also pretty interested in what going super heavy would be like, hence the interest in the XHS
- I was thinking that a mid-rise like the 633 might be better than the 888; my PBJs have an 11 inch front rise, and either I don't like where this particular pair hits my hip (maybe because of the tight lower leg) or I don't like a higher rise. SE also has an Indigo/Indigo pair of 18oz. that look good, but wanted to go the 21oz. route because the 18s are pretty close to the highest weight I have (16.5)
I need a 30 inch waist so inclined to do the size 30 in the 888S-OD (starts at 29.5 inches per Self Edge, 29.9 per IH) or the 29 in the 633 (starts at 30.5). I'm pretty sure I've read all the forums, including the ones that touch briefly on the 633-XHS, so I think those sizes are the right ones to start with.
I know it's a personal decision, just figured it'd be good to get the collective wisdom before I make the plunge.
