Momotaro

I found a US retailer that has the 0901 in stock size 36, I wear a size 34 in the 1955s cut…... since these are raw will a 36 be ok? I was thinking hot soak and warm dry.......
They probably will work, they should be a bit thinner through the seat and thighs than the IH 55 cut. They are a classic loose straight fit, but not quite as generous as the 55. Closer to the 634, I'd say. Since you're going up a size or so, that gives you the option to really try shrinking them down. Momotaros are really dark and don't seem to lose much indigo in a wash, so you can run them through the machine a couple of times without worrying about lots of fading. They also don't seem to stretch much, so whatever shrinkage you get, you'll probably keep.
Hope that helps.

Unless you're trying for a really skinny fit, go larger. In my experience, Momotaros don't stretch much and that 1 inch for shrinkage might be a bit conservative.

Can anyone confirm the shrinkage expected in the waist for the Vintage Series (i.e .0701, 0201 etc) with a hot soak?
Blue Owl says 1 inch, and I'm wondering if this matches other people's experience. This could decide whether i get a 33 or 34….
Any comments appreciated,
RnRRocknroll with my experience on the 0701s they get to be pretty tight. I wear a 34 in all iron heart jeans and got a 34 in Momotaros. they were overly tight. Hence the reason there in the market place. Between a 33 and 34 I would probably get a 34 and just shrink them if necessary.

Thanks guys,
I'm looking at the 0701, so I want a fairly slim fit. Having said that, I don't want the thighs skin-tight! Sounds like sizing up a little might be wise.
My only concern with sizing up is that they could eventually stretch TOO much. I like to wear jeans without a belt whenever possible, and if the waist stretches past 35 inches they will not stay up well.
When my bank account recovers from its current state, these are the next jeans on my list!

They look good, but at that price I'm gonna pass!
Blue Owl is talking up the Copper Label "Tight Straight" which is expected instore soon. I was almost committed to getting some 0701's but now I'm full of indecision again…...aaaaaghhhh!

I am wearing these as I type this. They are (well, were) BRUTALLY slim in the top block from your crotch up. The thigh isn't that bad and they aren't really slim at all from the knee down, but it took me almost a week to stretch out the top block to the point that it wasn't painful. What is tricky about them is that the measurements online are somewhat deceitful. By the numbers they don't look that tight…but then put them on. I purchased a 32 (I normally wear a 32 in just about everything) and for the first day I couldn't button the top 3 buttons. Once they stretch out on top though they fit like butter. You may want to size up 1 to play it safe.
Is anyone going for the new 0702 model with black weft (as stocked by Blue Owl and BIG)?
Given that it is quite similar to the ER007-2B, it will be interesting to see how it ages.

I presume you're talking about the 0702 Stormowl? Interesting because after writing the previous post I got the ER007-2B and had exactly the same issue you're describing. To be honest, I've kinda given up on them for now because the top block wasn't stretching like I hoped it would. I'll keep 'em in the background in case I lose a bit of weight at some point.
So for any other prospective buyers, I second the idea of sizing up with either of these models, unless you love pain.
