I am indeed Giles, and those look like the 'ones'. Teenie pics of them though, might have to fire off an email.

The Van Bomme are not different enough from normal Timbies that I can get for $55 at the outlet to spend $300 on them. When my last Timbies got the sole detached after two years of wear (it is repairable) I went to the outlet store and complained. She gave me another pair for $30. Hard to beat that. And I am of the kind who says it is better to buy an expensive quality product than a cheap one several times over. But in this case the Dutch shoes don't justify the expense.
The Russels are really nice, though.
In terms of boots I have four pair. A very soft, sheepskin lined black Chukka style boot by Bally, some J. Crew Clark rip-oo desert boots, a pair of the normal TImberland boots (hold up very well and look good) and I just got a pair of JM Weston Beaubourg Chelsea boots with the upper crafted out of one piece of leather. Those are amazing.
Alden also makes some plain toe boots that I like better than the Indies but the Indies are already very nice.

Heavy Duty - Those look Rad! Nothing like Gore-Tex! Just saw someones post on Sufu regarding these bad boys. Might have to cop…

I wear these:
Bikkembergs bought a year ago. Discount, 280 € => 100 €. Old model. Hard as fuck. In the process of cleaning them. Salty + snowy roads did a number on them.

Grenson WWII Italian armyboot repro. Had a vinyl sole added to have some grip. It was like iceskating when I wore them at work prior to that. Bought these 2ndhand on Styleforum (they were new, though) for less than 50 % of the RP.

Try the J. Crew knock-offs of the Clark desert boot. They are even simpler in design and the leather is nicer. A bit more expensive but at least not everybody has them. Love the RW and Indies, too.
For the really stylish occasions (or a daily high dose of luxury), I got the Weston 631 Beaubourg Chelsea boot designed by Michel Perry:
http://www.jmweston.com/home.html?#en/1-1/-1/15/145The special feature with this boot is that the upper is made of a single piece of leather with the only seamline being in the back center. I've seen a lot of very beautiful shoes but these stood out so subtly that I had to get them.

Any suggestions for gray boots? My favorite boot brands (RM Williams and Red Wing) unfortunately don't make this color.
