Things that have changed my life in the last 12 months
-
the buying & selling thread has allowed me to get a few gems that otherwise would have been far out of reach for me. the very same thread has also allowed me to get some items out of my closet that just have been getting no love.
hoorah for buying & selling on the Iron Heart forum
-
1. moved to UK for my M.Sc, and i really hate this part…..really tough but inevitable
2. Started my own company, which is sadly dormant due to my absence. will revive it as soon as i got back home.
3. broke-up with my girlfriend of 3 1/2 years, well actually we planned to get married next year....but oh well
4. sworn my allegiance to iron heart jeans, and trying to break 1 jeans per year (september-august) -
Been a funny old year for me too . . .
Discovered IH - being very particular about my clothes (well everything really) - so basically stopped worrying about where to buy gear
Then discovered this forum - love it to bits . . . it really is full of great people
And the forum folks led me to the next junction in the road by sorting me out with my ditas suddenly there's a beautiful woman in my life . . . something that I've been really dying to do . . . so to speak
One scaffolding accident later and I get my own thread on the forum . . . something I have also been dying for
A few treatments later and the vultures (sorry colleagues) think it might be better for me to appreciate life more and not have to worry so much about work . . .
So all in all a bit of a crazy year
I think I am so much better off now
Thank you all

what do you think a comedian is monday? haha
-
It takes courage to write a post like that Monday so hats off to you and I hope you find what you want to do. I'm grateful for what I have and life is generally good to me but I am bored throughout much of my working day and need to move on to something else. I'm getting married and moving to a new country at the end of the year and have to see this as an opportunity to change career path. Only problem is, to what? :-\

hats off to you MM…I'll cross my fingers that things will turn out the way you want them to!
but knowing you (even if it's just the mad forum person!) I'm quite sure you'll make your way and reach your goals!as for myself:
I'm near to finally end my studies and hopefully become a bachelor of engineering with the focus on construction management. finally after almost 5 years of studying I can see light at the end of the tunnel and looking forward to working and making some "real" money.
during my internship in switzerland a few months ago I'm sure I'll be moving out of germany and into my new adoptive country by the end of the year...at least that's what is planned atm.
so I'm really looking forward to what 2012 still has planned for me...unplanned or not!
-
Good luck to you MM.

thanks all for the words of encouragement, now to plot my exit strategy. i have a very specific set of skills that put me in a good position for a lot of sh!tty paying jobs, might go into teaching for a few years or maybe working with low maintenance special needs folks & then transfer that to a non-profit type of organization for children needing additional help with their studies & all that type of sh!t. time to start mapping out 6 month, 1 year & 5 year plans. i'm excited
-
Best of luck MM, hope it all works out. inspirational stuff there…

Monday, if you need any advice, my fiance is a Special Education teacher. I would be glad to help you out in any way I can.
-
Hats off to ya Monday, takes a lot to do what your doing. I wish you nothing but the best and see nothing but the best coming to you.
-
Special Ed folks are a unique and wonderful breed. I have nothing but the utmost admiration for people who choose to work in the field.
Monday, if you've reached a point where you need to make a career change so that you'll be happy with facing yourself in the mirror each day, go for it and best of luck to you. Tom, tell your fiancee I respect her work and want to say thanks for what she does.

And now that I'm thinking about it, here's what's changed my life in the last year:
My daughter Caroline, born April 29th.And my son got older and goofier
We started a mammoth construction project that still isn't finished 12 months later
I also got to meet Giles, Paula, Beetle, Blackheart, Denim Sailor, and Baby Knight, and I got to better know more Forum folks. All good things, all of which made this past year an interesting and eventful one.
Basically, I feel like I'm a pretty lucky guy.:)
