Music

Here's a somewhat random question for the married contingent: how did you go about choosing the music for your wedding? My fiancee and I don't have "our song" but there's plenty of music that's special to us. Just not sure if it would work at a wedding ceremony and reception.
Any tips or stories to share?

I'm not busting balls I'm being serious.

I take it you have never listened to their music while epically stoned?
I believe that is the defining evaluative criteria…

Oh I know. I am just imaging the explanation(s). Fair enough question. Surely adam or mikeC will chime in.

Nope not Phish usually listening to Clutch

Well…for starters...
--genuine, original, creative songwriting, coupled with classic covers that are oftentimes so much better than the original song.
–terrific harmony of unique voices, the background voices are both low and high pitched, while Trey's voice is smooth and soothing. its expressive without being loud or forceful.
–the jams, the long improvised, active jams that blast out into space, relax into introspective orbit and then return almost seamlessly into the next verse of the song. These musicians are so good at their instruments, everyone can play so many notes and so many variations that no song sounds the same twice.
–and then there's the extraordinary fact that they can play three or four nights at the same venue and never play a song twice, that's like 70-90 songs!
--I prefer them because every song is executed with tremendous precision and clarity. These guys have been together for decades so the concerts are coherent and expansive. And personally I find their music to be refreshingly intelligent and masterful. -
wow adam, soit seems you like phish
wedding music good luck with that sugarmountain. i let my wife decide so if it crashes & burns it's on her, plus my folks come for free drinks & food, her friends come to congratulate her on her special day

Adam summed it up. I've seen them 129 times and counting. Their is not a live band that matches Phish live. I've seen over 250 bands live including, Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, Primus, Bad Religion, The Stones, Etc, etc, etc. So I like to think that my opinion is decent when it comes to judging live music.

watch the show posted on the last page. Play it, then pause it, and give it some time to load a bit, then watch. This is an amazing video of a phenomenal show, you get to see it from so many angles. I have two windows open right now, one for watching this concert, and one for surfing…
