Sad day guys, love the Beastie Boys

Just as a random aside, MCA directed the video to So What'cha Want, so doubly appropriate post there, Lando…
He will be missed.

Recently I've been on a huge soul & funk kick. Bill Withers is at the top of my list. One of the nicest voices out there. He is one of those artists that gets me there fairly quickly. If you don't know what gettin there is, I feel bad for you. Some select Withers' tunes:
Aint No Sunshine
Use Me
Harlem
Lean on Me
Grandma's HandsA very cool muthafecker…

I need to come back to this. I have a ton of old stuff. I just need to figure out where (SF Storage, External Drive) it all is…
People need to start responding to music posts.
Agreed. However, I am no authority on music but can definitely say if I like or don't like something.
If u think the shit I put up here sucks or you love it, let me know.
Noted. I can and will do that.
Going in here for links to songs on YouTube is whack.
I agree, and I am a huge offender.

There should be a Music Discussion thread, if there isn't already one. This is the "Music Discussion Thread." Get to it. Break the cycle.

Fela Kuti is the fucking man. Check anything by him and his band Africa. He was originally from Nigeria. He runs the show and plays sax and keys. The dude's Nigerian style is fly as shit too. I would call his sound World Groove Funk. This isn't some generic hippy funk shit…...

Along the soul tip, lately I've been enjoying Aloe Blacc, think theme song from the cheesy HBO show about making jeans but his music is pretty dope I think.
Check out the Futurebirds if your looking for something fun, band out of Athens GA and they got "it" for sure.

I know I'm behind the times, but "El Camino" by the Black Keys is getting plenty of play over at Tron towers currently.
In the interests of discussion, has anyone else's music taste mellowed as they got older? In my teens it was all about British Indie music for me (Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, Joy Division, The Smiths etc…), in my twenties I started with thrash metal (Anthrax, Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth), then calmed into older rock (Kiss, AC/DC, etc....), and now I tend to listen mainly to music that I feel has been aimed, or categorised, for a white guy in his 30's (Arcade Fire, Noah And The Whale, Coldplay, Black Keys). Am I a sell out?
Some bands that I have liked since childhood, and still listen to regularly are....
Guns N Roses (old stuff, saw them live 5 times)
Stone Roses (saw them live once, never again. Awful live band)
Beastie Boys ( sad times RIP MCA, my older cousin bought Licsence To Ill and got me into them years ago)
Faith No More (my original favourite band, saw them so many times live)I definitely think my music taste has mellowed, and also effected by my age and my passions. I used to skate a lot in my teens, so indie and hip hop were what everyone in that scene listened to, in my 20s I spent most of my time drunk in a local rock club, hence metal, these days I socialise more at home with friends, so we need something that doesn't drown out a party.
Rambling over.....

It's just that kind of day. What up Lando?

I noticed Tragedy are on tour soon. Tempted to go see 'em… sort of...
Saw them a couple of times years ago and was always impressed. I just sold my copy of the To the Dogs 7" but the first album was really good (said like a true punk, eh?).
