New York - October 2012
-
Just reminded myself that I need to spend a few hours, and a few hundred dollars in Midtown Comics thoroughly geeking out…..anyone with me?
Down!
-
Agreed, geek out is also ON!!
-
Whow, i JUST found this thread now.
Just to confirm the facts here…
Self Edge New York is turning into an Iron Heart flagship store from October 20th until October 31st. On the 20th will be a party at the store with both IH-UK and IH-JP crews in attendance. We'll have every item that's sold at the Iron Heart flagship stores in Japan available for sale including a few items made just for the SENY x IH store pop-up.
The night before we'll have a group meet-up at a bar or restaurant which we'll announce closer to the date. Can't wait for this, pray that we can pull it off, logistically it's not very easy! -
Aww man this sounds like a great time. Too bad the GF cant take holidays in Oct We will be visiting NY in a couple weeks tho. June 7-12 i believe
-
Kiya, that sounds awesome man. Looking forward to meeting up with friends old and new, sinking some brews, eating some pizza, and most importantly getting handson new product. That is going to be a perfect week
-
Those of you who love Tom - and let's face it, who couldn't. She'll be with us in New York…...
BAM!
-
And to say that she is beside herself with excitement would be up there with the most significant understatements since the start of time….
Great, just great. Please let her know that she has a serious fan club out here!
-
EPIC!!!! I am so looking forward to this event. Going to be nice to throw my hair back and get Dirty NY style
-
Is the guy on the far right, beside Kiya, the fabrics expert (I can't remember his name)?
Nice crowd shaping up for NYC.
-
No, that is Johan from SELA, Andrews business partner at 3Sixteen. Ono from TSS could not make it up to Tokyo this trip…
Bonus info. Sarina also translates for Ono when she is not doing her full time job in her fathers factory.........screen printing the Iron Heart products......We like to keep it in the family....
Funny story, we are producing some 2 colour printed Tee's in the next batch. I asked Haraki what difference it would make to the wholesale price. He deferred to Sarina......

So, where are all the rest of you "out of towners" staying in October? We're in a flea pit called the Hotel Carter near Times Square (purely for price and convenience), anyone feel like joining us so I can escape for evening beers?
Apart from which, the last few times I've been to NYC my accommodation has always sucked. I just wouldn't feel like I had visited the Big Apple if I didn't come home complaining about noisy pipes, broken air con, rude hotel staff, a room that was way too hot/ cold…....some things just add to the experience. Like I feel sorry for foreign tourist who visit England when it isn't raining, and on a day when we don't choose to wear our bowler hats or trilbys, and carry a briefcase and an umbrella :-\

I know how you feel. I try to always wear a ten gallon hat, pearl handled revolvers, boots and spurs for folks when they first come to Texas. I also try to pick them up at the airport in my enormous Cadillac convertible with the giant steer horns mounted on the hood. Then we swing by a couple of oil wells, herd some cattle and then head out to the back forty to eat dinner at the chuck wagon. Yup, that's what it's like every single day.
