Tattoos

I recall you mentioning in other posts about working in a professional environment (engineering I think?) so my advice would be anything that can be hidden by a golf-shirt. At least until you're well established. Yes long sleeve shirts can be worn to hide arm work but really not fun in the hottest summer heat.
You can always get more over time, which I guarantee you will… addictive bastards they are. While it should not be the case, tattoo discrimination still exists in the workplace. Making the most out of your career and self fulfillment seems to me to be a greater goal than collecting ink. I say this as a person with multiple tattoos. Back, chest, half sleeve left arm and shoulder done on right. Starting back piece in October.

Finn mate everything is acceptable as long as you do not see em in business. Therefore tattoos on hands and neck are a bit problematic as it is impossible to cover imho.
As you see in my pix my arms are pretty covered and I am working in consulting business. Although everybody knows that I am a fan of tattoos they respect me who I am but I keep em still covered as a matter of respect and loyality in favour of our firm. Even some of my clients know but I do not talk about it. As CLJ mentioned correctly you need first to establish.
My first tattoo 19 years ago was on the upper arm as well, and I do not regret.
have fun mate.

davito - thanks a lot mate. well if i make sure that everything´s covered, there shouldn´t be a problem at all…a mate from work back then had one on his inner biceps, which was visible to everyone, since he sometimes have worn just a t, so i don´t think the company is that much against a tattoo in general...we´ll see!
CLJ - like IJ said...wise words there sir! and i think you´re totally right, since i´m definitely going to show some skin in summer, so short sleeve shirts and/or t´s wouldn´t hide the tattoo i´m planing to get...not sure if that´s common to get your first tattoo on your chest, but i had only these two spots in mind for the motive i´m planing to get...so thanks a lot sir!
i´m planing on getting something like this (not exactly the same, but the same direction!)...
for chest:
on upper sleeve:
same as "for chest" just with closed wings!what do you guys think?…

If I was going to a big bird on the chest, I think this would be very appropriate:
-
I have a big bird on my chest.
-
Yup, it's a giant cock on my chest.
-
a similar bird with a noose around it's neck placed just below the knee always makes for a niece conversation starter tattoo.

I have not read the complete thread, but I think you guys posted some nice tattoos! Especially the old school and Sailor Jerry stuff is awesome. My left arm is complete, my right arm will be finished in October and I have an eagle on my chest. I love tattoos!

and we love pics of´em!
Don´t have a cam laying around, did some for you with Photobooth:
Everything is done with old fashioned coil-machines, it should hurt more (I can´t compare…), but I think it looks better
