WHITE'S SJ LACE TO TOE.
BLACK ROUGHOUT.
VIBRAM 100.YAY OR NAY?
Just want to hear other opinions about this. I say YAY.
It's a yay, next lot of stock boots will have to include the rough out!
-
nice build. I have actually been kicking arund the idea of having my heel counters replaced with black smooth for the very reason you are having it done. Ill be interested to see how these look.

what do you guys think of natural cxl throughout SJ, double midsoles & vib 700
-
Ron, I like those boots a lot as well.
-
'thought they don't take 3-leather option on build.

Yeah I realized that yesterday and emailed Kyle to see what I can do.
-
to Ron, NAY…Vib100 sole is disgusting
Folks over at Indigo Roots are saying the same thing as well… ummmm..
-
I'd go with Vibram 430. Lower profile but still very good traction.
Here's a comparison with 430 on right
-
My opinion is that one has little business having a Vibram 100 unless they are out in the sticks tromping around most of the time. Its about as overkill as you can get in any other setting. Thats just my opinion though, and there are many here who see it differently.
-
They are heavy duty that is for sure. I love them for hiking, etc.
-
thought they don't take 3-leather option on build.
I just spoke to Kyle at Bakers and he's gonna push my order through and see if they do it. He said sometimes he can sneak a 3-tone by them.
-
Interesting. I am ordering a pair of John Lofgren engineers in size 12, and I've been told that they're too big for the standard Vibram 705. I've been in contact with Vibram to try and find a larger half sole option, but they seem to have nothing. Think the 430 and 705 size 14 soles are the same size.
What size are your boots. Vibram needs to pull their head out of their ass and make some larger sized soles!!!
Anybody know of any larger options for half soles?

My Brown Buffalo x Brown Dress SJs have arrived! I have 1 question though… what do I do with the top of the tongue? Can I cut it off?
-
To make the top of the tongue level with the top of the boots? Yeah, you can cut it off if you want to. A heavy pair of sewing shears or leather snips would work, if you have some. A sharp knife would work too, but you'll have to be really careful to keep it looking clean and straight.
-
sure, but it will shorten anyway with wear. very nice classic SJ's!
as for the vibram 100 discussion further up: they are indispensable in the snow and ice, the 701's are no match here.
