Would like to take the opportunity to thank Giles, Paula and their family, Haraki-san and Japan crew, the whole team behind the scenes for making all this possible in our everyday's life. I have lots of respect for u guys.
Thanks everybody for all the good laughs, nice pics and reviews as well as welcoming me on the forum when i started to post parts of my life. I am extremely proud to say that IH is a big part of it.
Happy Holidays and all the best for 2013. stay hard, stay safe

Since it is the time of the year where the sentimental reflection of the past 12 months kicks in, I take the chance and address some words to all of you guys as well. …................................... Wait, I tell you what, we skip that, most of the time I had a feckin blast over here and will only say a big thank you to everyone (yeah even to those that think to act like an ...... is an achievement). I love you all….
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a blasting 2013 to every single one of you -
Walked into a bar recently that holds a celebration for all twelve days of Festivus. I arrived just in time for the airing of grievances. Enjoy Trons!
On a more year end note…
I've been a member on various forums at different points in time but this is the first one I've felt the desire to stick around and be active on for a considerable amount. Other than the last few months it's been admittedly good year for me, and through it all I've enjoyed being around here.
Meeting new people and friends has been great. NY was one of the highlights of my year and meeting a bunch of the forum (mega, urb, scroogen, DD, RP, mikeC, d666, Doug, chris...) was such a fantastic time.
And who could forget Giles and Paula. Thanks for running the ship that is IHUK and just generally being great folk. Visiting them was one of my top moments this year. Their hospitality and kindness are second to none.
Only real forum related regret of the year was missing Nate and Converge both times they came through Michigan. I've seen em before, but damn do they put on a great show!
Of course there's also Haraki, who keeps working his magic and churning out stuff we love.
On that note, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and if any of you are ever in the great state of Michigan don't be shy!
-
My sincere Salud!! to the IHUK crew for letting me have a taste of a very finely made garments and experienced one fekking hard to beat customer service.
It will always stay with me that IHUK is the 1st and only online shop that are willing to sell me anything and send it to Ghana..
( after completing a Jamesbond like enquiries and tests)
Cheerss!!!!! Especially to Giles-San and Queen Paula for an excellent service and to all IH forum members.
Have a very blessed and happy holiday!!

I thought long and hard where to post this. It (obviously) could have gone into "My Favourite Beer", but I felt it was better here. This missive is about beer, but wow what a missive. This was in response to my request to Seul - "Please give me a EURO 300 shopping list for when I am in Belgium later this week"….
_In your hands… Upped your life insurance?.. Had some strong ones?.. Either way... Here are some reccomendations... I'm probably not even gonna hit 300 €, but you can always adjust your quantity of bottles...
Giles: park your car in the designated parking lot behind the store (not in front of the store)... Grab a cart and some empty crates (these will run ya 2.10 €/ crate; you can return these in any Belgian store though)... Your journey begins... Counter's on your left, on your right are the liquors and wines... Pass them...
I reckon the first big bastard you wanna get is the limited 1.5 l ST BERNARDUS ABT 12... It's 19.95 or something but you can't pass on that if they still have those... They're next to the big bottles of Chimay and Saison Dupont... Btw: I haven't tried it yet, but I've heard tons of 'mericans yap about that Saison Dupont... Might wanna pick up one of those magnum bottles as well...
Next items are lotsa fruit beers and Geuzes and sours... Have a looksie, not my thing... If you'd like some really non-sweetened cherry beers for summer though, pick up some Boon Kriek... Make sure it's not the Oude Kriek though... The regular Boon Kriek is also available in big bottles... 4% normally... Really good stuff!..
You'll find St. Feuillien a bit further: get some GRAND CRUS... As much as you can...
At the back of this first quartier (I sometimes use French words even though I don't really speak French), is where the Authentic Tripel beers are stored... Chimay, Westmalle, Rochefort, La Trappe, Gregorius, Achel Orval. Westvleteren is of course not sold in this store. From these brands I recommend:
Chimay: you are more informed about this beer than I am...
Westmalle: some big bottles of Tripel will always come in handy ey!..
Rochefort: I just cannot describe how much I love the 8 and 10... Get as many as you can... Be aware: the 10 is 11.3%... This is STRONG beer mate!..
La Trappe: oh boy oh boy... I love these fucking Dutchies... Get the Tripel, the Quadrupel, the Pure (this is around 5 % but really is a nice refreshing beer for when it's warm), but most importantly: get the QUADRUPEL OAK AGED... Easily recognisable as it has a cork, and comes in a 37.5 cl. bottle... It is expensive at about 8 € per bottle, but I really suggest you get a couple... Please remember: this has to be opened with a corkscrew!!!
Gregorius: get one if you're interested... I find it quite expensive (3.2 €/ bottle) and def not as good as the other AT products...
Achel: get the brown oneAll right... You go to the left and you're surrounded by German and US beer... Skip... Go to the next quartier... Here I'll just have to get random as I'm not sure what comes first...
-
some things you wanna skip: Sint-Bernardus, Watou, St Feuillien, anything but the ones I mentioned... The tripels and all that will look mighty promising, but they're quite disappointing... So stick to the ABT 12 for the Bernardus, and the Grand Cru for the St Feuillien...
-
Straffe Hendrik QUADRUPEL (11°)... Might wanna stock up on these... Big bottles available... Incredible dark ale...
-
Malheur: you will see their big bottles, and you might wanna pause... I have 'm all here, but have only tried the Royal (9%, blond)... Skip that... I would suggest the DARK BRUT (11%)... Not the Extra Brut though... Yeah: I haven't tried them, but I've read up on them, and I'm opening the DARK BRUT on Wednesday when me mate's coming... I'll let you know if it disappoints... Maybe try the regular Malheur 12 as well...
-
Gouden Carolus: well I'm a huge fan of these... The Tripel is massively nice... Myself I would recommend the Classic (gorgeous brown beer, perfect at 8.5 alc perc)... But what you really, and I'm serious here, REALLY should stock up on is the CUVEE VAN DE KEIZER... These are the big bottles (75 cl.)... Blue and red versions available... Blue is the brown (11°), red is blond (10°)... Get the blue one... You can keep these for 10 years... I was blown away with the taste, colour, and smell of this beer... These are massively CHEAP, at about 5 €/ bottle...
-
Bush... At the complete end of the ride, there's the Bush beer... My God... Get their blonde (10.5°), get a big bottle of their triple, get a couple bottles of the PRESTIGE (12°, around 11 €/ bottle)... Do NOT buy the BUSH DE NUIT... Trust me...
I forgot mentioning a lot, but it's difficult... You should let me know when you're going, and I might be able to guide you through by means of texts or phone!..
Cheers G, big kiss to Paula,
Eli._

i was lucky this year to try a lot of the beers Eli mentioned above (yup, read it all!)…he ain't messing around and really just named that good stuff (yeah you can trust him on that!)...and that day in the liquor store could be something where a head cam would come in pretty handy btw. only if you're allowed to use it though

As I am (hopefully) taking the rest of the weekend off from the HWDC, I thought that this would be a good time to send some love for the help I have received from the good folks at the IH-Forum.
This forum has only 2 less entrants to the HWDC currently than SuFu (where are you MadMonday?), a much bigger community, this forum has donated more to the HWDC than any other forum BY FAR.
I have received plenty of great support, and messages from so many of my IH brothers and sisters, and it reminds me how lucky we are to have this little piece of cyberspace together. Big love to Seawolf, MikeC, Chris, Brooks, Jeff and so many more for their support of what we are trying to do here.
Over the last few weeks, I have been working 8 - 9 hours in my day job, and then coming home to another 4 hours answering questions and registering competitors for the comp, I have even started getting up an hour earlier (5am) to catch some guys on the time difference, and so I have time to watch TV and play with Tommy in the evening.
Thankfully, once we have April 1st out of the way, the MBB's and the Belts are in the air, and any other projects (hint) are under way, I think I can return to normality (sort of). Thank you all, your support has stopped me from killing people.
I must especially thank General G, who I am sure is thinking of changing his email address and his profession.

Spend some well deserved time off, Gavin. Rest, recharge your batteries and do something fun with your wife and kid. You've done a really impressive job keeping the inmates from taking over the asylum, so I think the HWDC will roll along without you for 48-72 hours without blowing up…
(hopefully
)
