KOB DENIM - Kind of Blue
-
OOE Yofukuten is great. Just email them and they get back to you as soon as they can. Check their website.
The Denim Project has a Facebook page. All the posts are in Japanese but they speak decent English if you message them. I saw a pair on Fade Fridays on Rawr Denim and I was in love with the fading. They just got a nice new 13.5oz raw that they specced out (from what I gather from their Wall on FB). They are doing the '47 and '66 cut, the '66 is fairly new.

It#s pretty easy to deal with the Denim project. Taichi speaks English very well so that's not a problem. They just released a new run of th '66 cut with a new denim., just like MikeC said. But they had the '66 cut before in their sortiment

I think he's talking about the KOB jeans, not the DenimProject jeans
-
oh sorry!! I missunderstood, here is not thread of us.

Best made jeans that I own. I heard that KOB should be taking orders soon, but not sure.
Look at the quality ! Denim feels similar to IH - 634S. 21 oz. Okayama family mill. Beautiful Stuff!
They also have 18, 16 and 14 oz. I'm still an Iron Heart guy, but on my other days, these are the ones.
They must have all of the machines that Roy has. Look at the shell stitching! The button-holes! The raised pocket tops! The interior stitching and pocket design.
I'm trying to get them over to the USA. We'll see where that goes. They're happy being small and I'm happy with Iron Heart, so who knows if it will happen??

Yeah..the 'redtab' is funny. I like it too.
But the visible coin pocket selvage…I really don't like it all.
-
Now I looked a bit more at the pictures. Stitching on the back seam between the back pockets looks a bit strange. But that doesn't matter.
So when I saw the leather patch again and I read "Artist Denim" I already thought…mhh...they might be made by Gun (the guy from Artist Denim. Made in Thailand not Japan). Then I googled a bit around and well, what I discovered:
-
as we all know, Gun used 21oz sanforized IH denim (yeah that rank C stuff). This might be again the case
-
Gun has a shell stitching machine, proof
-
The coin pocket looks identical
-
The fomnt on the tab looks similar
-
he also offers 16oz and 18oz denim (14oz most likely too)
So…if Gun hasn't moved to Okayama recently, I guess these are still made in Thailand. But Gun has proven that he can produce nice jeans.
Sherlock out

-
and also the same buttons
too much similarities to be not from the same guys…

Did you notice Banksy's balloon girl on the patch?
"What is the central theme to this everlasting spoof?"
Do you like Phish?
Also, I agree with Sean and b_f, visible selvage on the coin pocket is ultra tacky. As for back pockets, if you can't think of a good arc design, then go with a straight line and half line the rear pockets. Classy and functional, ala, the TWHR01…..

While those other things are features on Gun's jeans, I don't think any are exclusive to him. Roy has the shell machine too. is buttons come from ykk and presumably anyone can buy them. I think the thing that confirms it is that, if you look at the front pocket openings, between the two lines of yellow thread, the denim is raised like in the middle of belt loops. Gun has been doing that recently and its really uncommon to see (haven't seen on ih, samurai, sg, or roy).
