Triple Works - The New Jeans World Tour
-
OK, so the jeans arrived on Thursday, just like clockwork. Coincidentally, we were heading to the “Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo”, or simply the Rodeo. It's a massive event that goes on for a month every spring and we usually go out for a day or two. Anyway, I took a couple of pictures just to give you a glimpse of Houston's biggest annual event.
Show cattle
Benjamin chillin with an actual Texas Ranger at the Lil Rustler's Rodeo (he's the one in the middle without a hat, being escorted by the dude with a gun)
Benjamin and Caroline meet a celebrity- Elsie the Cow, Borden Milk's mascot
Right now he's thinking, “Why don't we have a TV this big?”
Benjamin and Caroline meet ham and bacon (sorry Seul)
Gotta watch your step at the Rodeo- silly livestock isn't housebroken…
I think I need a “Texas sized” belt buckle
Cute baby animals at the petting pen
And finally, what would a trip to the Rodeo be without bizarre fried foods? Guess what this is
Did you guess?
Seriously, that's your guess?
Dude, you are so wrong. It's chicken fried deviled eggs. They're not that great, but I figured they were worth a try.

Just because that's what Paula plans to do to yours now that you've bought a motorcycle…

Yesterday was a pretty standard day. Chauffeured the kids to stuff, then grabbed lunch. One of our regular spots- Barnaby's Cafe, since it's loud and the cloud of destruction that surrounds our children usually doesn't bother anyone. I had a burger and fries with a beer. This one is odd for me, since I hate coffee, but I'm glad I got it, because it was really tasty. Gonna have to see if I can track down some more.
And yesterday's fit
Since it was a little cool, I took the opportunity to wear a jacket, which is a rare thing in Houston, so this was the result
Oh, and just for the heck of it, I measured the pair to see how much they've changed during the Tour. Answer- not a damn bit. Every measurement was within .25 inches of the posted numbers in the shop, except for the inseam, which is posted as 36.6”, and is only 35.5” on this pair. I'll chalk that up to the difference between pre-production sample and regular production run.

Most of the week was dull. I'm dull, actually. Anyway, on Thursday, Julie wanted to go see Bruno Mars. Over 75,000 other people thought that was a good idea, too. And since we didn't have tickets, this is as close as we got to the stage.
Afterwards, we ate Rodeo food- deep fried Reese's cups and deep fried Pop-Tarts.
Friday, we were back at the Rodeo. This time it was the Bunnies & Boots Bash- the appreciation dinner for donors & members of the Rabbit Committee, one of the 107 committees of volunteers who staff and run the Rodeo each year. Julie is a member, so I get dragged along. Typical party. Silent auction, lots of cowboy hats, lots of rhinestones, lots of crappy beer at the open bar.
Of course we took the opportunity to eat more Rodeo food. Fried shrimp & fries, fried dill pickles. I don't know who created fried dill pickles, but they are an absolute genius.
By the way, meals like these are why I've gained thirty pounds since moving to Texas…

Saturday worked out to be a day for relaxation.
The WT jeans at rest. Damn Cerberus is gonna feel my wrath…
I also swung by the store to see if I could find a particular beer. Came up empty on the one I'm hunting, but that doesn't mean I came home empty handed. Grabbed a few singles, plus a sixer from a local(ish) brewer.
Cheers, people!
