IHSH-78 - Indigo Dyed Hickory Stripe Work Shirt
-
Hey pP, I checked on Iron Heart Japan's site, and although it's not nearly as reliable as a confirmation from G, the measurements look accurate. The sizing only goes up to XXL, but Heather's measurements appear to be within .2 inches of IHJ's; which is basically identical, considering the smaller stock (I'm assuming) that G received – potentially altering the averages due to smaller sample size.
Ultimately, I agree that an extra inch in length would have been great, but I wasn't deterred by it. If you look at the length of your 72 and the length of the XXXL here, there is only a .2 inch difference (I'm assuming the length of your 72 based on IHUK's measurements). The sleeves are still long, like the 75. I understand if you decided to hold off because you have the 07; it's a damn nice shirt. If you're like me, and are trying to add some work shirts to a western-dominated rotation, then I think you should go for it. Worst case, you know you can always send it back if it doesn't fit.

I second that. I have been waiting for a work shirt that will work…. I have oodles of westerns and will be nice for a change

Your never gonna get a long sleeved/long bodied Workshirt, unless Giles commissions it. People in Japan are not as huge as us North Americans. The 75 is different because it was commissioned by Giles. Workshirts are also supposed to have shorter sleeves and length (compared to westerns), so the worker doesn't get extra fabric caught in a machine or something (but that's just what history shows).

Right on. I'm just saying the 78 works for me so I grabbed it

Sean- by my measurements it is the same as my 72. The 72 is as short as id like and sometimes i even thint too short. The arm length seems great on the 78, much better then my 72 and not as silly as the 78 lol. I was jus really hopin for atleast 31-31.5 for length in a xxxl. Might do it anyway, still thinkin
Mike- im not expecting anything ridiculous for length lol. I just think that the length on a xxxl should be comparable to the other measurements. There is a .8" diff in chest for xx to xxx and only an increase of .2 for length. I guess its a good thing that all the shirts dont work for me or id be broke lol. This one is right at my limit of what i think looks good on me so im hesitant -
I've copped one of these :-*.
Had been thinking about the Wabash, but decided on something that will be a bit more versatile for spring/summer - assuming we ever get any here in the UK…

Completely understand, and feel the same way. I also get MikeC's explanation. This is why I don't have many work shirts (length; fit). I rolled the dice on this one, so we'll see. At least G commissioned the 75, right? That one fits perfect.

3 days and this beauty should be with me down over here. I get packages from the otherside of the world(IHUK) faster than I get packages in my same city. Amazing.
72 was a good length for me (not that I did that comparison). I've always had shoulder/chest sizing niggles, hence my focus there.

Boom!
Great fit (it's an L), perfect length, beautiful fabric - another winner. I'll post some natural light pics tomorrow if I get a chance (UPS arrived 10 mins ago ;D).

Okay, just picked this up today. Impressions: The fabric is stiff, as expected. In typical IH fashion, you can tell this will soften, nicely, with wear. It is definitely lighter than the 75. If I had to guess, I would say around 10oz. It's ever so slightly heavier than the pin check. Some simple IH math (the only math I can do): TWSH-05<77<78<75. The sleeves are nice and long, and my XXL measured out to 30.3" in length; which I think is good for a work shirt. Overall, it's a nice, fitted look. It is really sharp and I don't think pictures do it justice. This has immediately jumped near the top of my IH favorites.

…ahhh hell, who am I kidding. I couldn't wait even an hour
It's well and truly exceeded my expectations. I was NOT expecting a stiff-work shirt. Nor was I expecting stiff button/holes. The buttons feel great, the shirt feels great, it's a fantastic weight for the office. The fit (for me) is perfect. It's a little boxy due to the stiffness, but wow, totally worth the wait.
I have an ear to ear grin that's just not leaving my face.
