White's Boots
-
I don't own a pair of Red Wings, but before I bought my Alden Indy's I tried on a pair of the Beckman boots. I didn't buy the Red Wings b/c the width was too tight, and sizing up just made the boot too long. I ended up buying a pair of Indy boots in 8E. I ordered my White's in an 8E also, and they're basically the same fit as my Indys.

^ if it's a 9US you take in RW I'd go with an 8.5 or 9E in the SD last, an 8 might be too snug with thick socks.
Anyone has any inputs? Would a 9E fit? My feet measures a EUR42 on a brannock device by Birkenstock from what I remember.
I wear 13D in Red Wing boots - and I measured my foot for White's, and Baker's suggested 12.5D (that is what I ordered, in a bounty hunter). I will see how that works out very soon.
"If" Red Wing made a 12.5D that might work for me - the boots are roomy.

I wear a 10D in Red Wings with thick socks and still have a little room but 9.5D fits good and snug with thin socks. A 9.5D in White's SJ's and Packers works great for me so you should be good.

By the way a question to all:
We are talking always about lace-up-boots only, but has anyone experience with custom made pull-on-boots? Especially about the fit?
If I could find a good custom made rugged Chelsea boot I'd be all over it. I just go back and forth between my rw Chelsea's and my blunnies.

Shipping email from Bakers, fuck yeah.

I recall there is at least 1 pic of a White's "Nomad" in this thread - it is White's "engineer" style pull-on boot - in nat. cxl that was really nice - I even printed it off for future reference. It would be a chore to find it, but it is there. I have no personal experience with this style, but I can tell you it is a really handsome boot.
Personally I would be a little scared to buy the Nomad, as I have a high instep, and in the past I have had a hard time getting "engineers" on my feet. I can usually do it but it's like wrestling an alligator. I actually gave away a pair of Frye's to my nephew because it was just too much.

JayDee, here is one of the references to the Nomads.
The White's Engineers (a line called Nomad which is a relatively new line) look quite nice…
Brown CXL:
Distressed RO (also looking quite light in colour here JCMx800)
Really liking these in distressed ro

those nomads look mighty fine

Foxy, I would love a straight up profile pic of those if you have one. I like the block heel, but I feel they could make it a bit cleaner. Most of them seem to protrude too much, like they didnt sand it down enough.

The distressed rough out looks much better in real-life!!!

The details, stitching, cutting on my Viberg's seems to be slightly better than on my White's.
The footbed and arch support on my White's makes myWhite's instantly more comfortable to wear - need to see if this remains true over extended periods of time…Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Great looking boots Foxy!

Thank you very much Bluegrass for making so much work to answering my question! The distressed brown roughout is a very beautiful leather. The instep of my feet is low, so I think it would better fit to me.
The natty cxl version is nice too. "Somebody" should go online and build a custom pair of Nomads!
