@dlaz- would you mind posting the source of the information you provided? I did a bit of researching last night to see if this was discussed (i was always inder the assumption that MikeC stated in the last post since every pair of NB i have owned has stated materials used) and failed to find anything else alluding to what you had mentioned and I would like to further my understanding of this concern. Thanks!

Quick question - looking at either the 574 or 1300 model. Is it worth the step up to the made in America/England models from a quality standpoint?

yeah that is what I thought, I am referring to Dlaz stating that New Balance told him that they don't know what animal it comes from… I completely agree with what you are saying MikeC.. I'm just not sure what HE is saying

Thanks for the quick reply - I'm assuming a step up in both material quality and construction?

MikeC,your info gives me some hope.
@tatmantall;this is a statement when they replied to my email;_Thank you for contacting New Balance Customer Support! I'm glad to see that you are interested in the materials that we make the 1300 and 1600 uppers out of. Both of these shoes have leather uppers. Our shoes are sourced from a variety of locations, so we actually cannot account for 100% of the shoes' makeup. Since we cannot recommend these styles are 100% guaranteed free of all the pig originated materials, it may be safest for you not to purchase these products. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.
I would recommend some of our ML574 models, like the "Backpack" edition, as this shoe is a synthetic upper and is free of leather and suede materials. I have included a link below:

To ensure proper comfort and fit, we recommend that you go to a retailer to be properly sized for the shoe. May we have your zip code to do a search in your area for stores that have ordered that particular style from us within the past 30 days? You are also welcome to search for retailers on your own using our store locator. They may not carry that style, but they might be able to special order the shoe for you.

Thanks for the link MikeC. Really like the green version of these.

The revlite 574 is great and pig free.

Any one know of shops in London stocking the made in USA and gb gear? Cheers

Made in England ones can be found in most outlets. I got my 576 from Offspring in Covent Garden. Size? probably have a good range too, just down the street.

Foot Patrol well worth a visit too - usually have a decent selection of the USA stuff.
