-
I lived in and around NYC for many years, and all the bands came through. I went a ton of concerts. Too many to remember, really. The ones that come to mind:
The Who & The Clash (Shea Stadium 1982)
Police & REM (Shea Stadium 1983)
U2 (6 or 7 shows, but the best one was Radio City 1984)
Pink Floyd (Giants Stadium 1987)
Sting (Private concert at Beacon Theater 1985)
Simon & Garfunkel (1993 MSG Theater)35 (give or take) Grateful Dead shows
Peter Gabriel–5 shows (all good)
From Good Homes (Jersey band) 10 shows at Irving Plaza NYC -
Great list RP!
-
Feeling like an amateur all of a sudden
Great lists BH and RP.
-
Ritchie Blackmore is my favorite guitarist, Cal Jam 1974 was insane, Rainbow 1975 was great since RJD
was on vocals.Agreed RP, Led Zep was a landmark gig, I saw Bad Company in 1975 and Robert & Jimmy came out and
did the encore with them. Amazing. -
Sisters of Mercy, summer 1992, Birmingham NEC - my first big gig
Spasmodics, summer 1992, Warwick Students Union - they were much better than the support act, a little known band called Radiohead.
Killing Joke, 1995 or 1996, The Garage, Glasgow.
Mr Bungle, summer 2000, Astoria, London - specially for Mega. They had a warm-up act who was a kid's magician, and he didn't go down to well to the point that some of the crowd were throwing things at him. I got smacked on the head by a full can of beer thrown from somewhere behind me.
There were a couple more in Brighton, Fun Lovin' Criminals and Orbital in 2001 or 2002, but I can't remember the dates.
And I should throw in Yat Kha, The Sage Centre, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, 2006. You can't go wrong with a Siberian rock band!

Blackheart will be the MVP of this thread.
I have a bunch of old ticket stubs in my office that I should check. I'm going on vacation for a couple of weeks, so it will have to wait. For now:
Also, I should add:
Simon & Garfunkel Concert in Central Park (1991)
Eric Clapton various times (including the acoustic tour)
Dire Straits
Bowie
Stones
Springsteen
Van Halen
Allman Brothers
Neville Brothers -
Agreed RP, Led Zep was a landmark gig, I saw Bad Company in 1975 and Robert & Jimmy came out and
did the encore with them. Amazing. My mom met Bad Company's drummer on a flight. Said he was very nice. My mom is kind of a looker so he may have had ulterior motives
-
Thanks RP, I have tons of old ticket stubs too and backstage passes…I'll have to dig those out and see
who else I've seen.
Ted Nugent 1978 was another good one, Queen 1980, Judas Priest 1980, Quiet Riot with Randy Rhoads
and Rudy Sarzo at the Starwood many a weekend back in the late 70's and early 80's...Great stuff.Simon Kirk was very cool, especially with his shirt off, but that's just me...
-
