634s-SEXIH13 - 23oz Selvedge - Straight Fit

Thanks for the shots snowman! Hope we get some more landed in here. I might do some evo pics this afternoon as these are starting to show a bit of wear. My sebenza has done a bit of damage to my right pocket as well and decimated the top of the inner pocket lining as well as chewing up the stitching on the pocket and coin pocket… Might be considering new options for carrying my knife on future jawns

Too short in inseam story of my life

Perhaps one day ill be comfortable with that but honestly as thin and long legged as I am I look a bit disproportionate and "goon"-ish unless I have a jean with just a bit of stack. It helps balance things IMO. Maybe I'm just used to seeing the stack and need to open my mind a bit.
It's a thought though! And thank you David.

. I might be the minority but I can't stand the 21oz denim. I Like me denim a) ridgid not soft and b) not treated with an anti fading chemical like the 634s
I'd like to see this in unpopular opinions thread to see what discussion emerges.
I agree with it in a sense, but I regard my 634S as an exception, where the lack of rigidity and strength of dye are in service to stubbornness.

Ponyboy asks: What anti-fading chemical is used on IH jeans? Is it all IH denim? Why is it used? (I tried searching thru the forums and google but found nothing.)

Pony (great name btw, love The Outsiders) I think that a rigid, fast fading denim would not fit the IH ethic of durable, stubborn goods. Rigid means a shorter life, fast fades aren't stubborn, and plenty of other premium brands play that game. And patience has its rewards, just look at some of the IH slow fades on this forum.
I'd say IH is the antithesis of Neil Young's lyric: "better to burn out then to fade away."

I agree with most of this.
I don't need a fast fader but rigidity is the key.. And ridgid dosent mean less durable, in theory you could wash rigid jeans a bunch and they would be soft.
But ironheart are my favorite brand. The 18oz raw is the perfect middle ground if you want faster fading, high contrast and ridgid. Won't be rigid like somet but it's damn good denim. My 17oz jawns are also very rigid and not treated with chemical -
Thanks to mic and nerk. Half thanks to Mr. Giles for keeping cards close to chest re: trade secrets (since your response did answer my question in part since there was a tacit admission anti-fade chems are used in IH denim).

…only in the flagship 21oz denim.

Nothing tacit about it. We have never made a secret of the fact that we treat the 21oz denim to retard it's fading. What is a secret is what we do.

Is there a reason the 21oz indigo gets it and the other jeans dont?
-
Haraki's first denim for Iron Heart and his baby. He decided he wanted to retard the fading, so he did. I've never bothered asking him why, it just is what it is. He asked me the other day if I wanted to release some jeans without the treatment. I said no, mainly because I did not want to mess with his baby. Plus there's a shit load of other denim available now or soon to be available.

Without hijacking the 23oz denim thread (a major love of mine), I love the slow fading and major softness of the 21oz flagship. I know the 21oz's are going to be around for MANY years and still look nearly new; that durability is what I love.
THIS 23oz denim is really rich, it feels soft and stiff at the same time and has so many hues, that and it gets electric blue fades. Would still buy another pair of this 23oz
