Natural Lamb Skin Vegetable-tanned leathers.
We were invited to select some Vegetable-Tanned Lamb Skin few months ago and we are very excited to made some prototypes out of it.
Lamb Skin veg-tanned are uncommon. The reason is because leather process by vegetable-tanning is normally used for tooling (carving) purpose or making crafts that needs a form. Thus, thicker leather is always preferred for vegetable-tanned.
Lamb Skin known for its softness, used commonly on leather garments, is not a usual hide for vegetable-tanning because it is not as thick to start off with.
However, even as said, there are still need for these uncommon leather (I wouldn't say rare)Anyway, here are the prototypes,
Inspired by the pistol holder of 1950s police officers.
This is the first time I am showing this additional feature in Obbi Good Label's leather crafting on the coin compartment.
An excess opening that further assist you to reach to your coins easily.
We have seen many leathercrafts with really good and attractive designs, however, we rarely see serious thoughts put into the functionality or improvising on the leather products for the users who are the key to determine the basics of the product.
This additional feature on the coin compartment will be one of the identification of all OGL products from now on. So that when you see this feature you will know it is made by us.

Thanks for the message.
On the wallet, we used size 20, polyester thread for this wallet. From what I see, it might be a little difficult to sew back by yourself, but it can be done.
The difficult part is the accessibility of maneuvering the needle inside.
What I can advise if you wanna DIY, is using a small and shorter needle for this job. -
OGL Duck fabric, heavy-weight 16oz and its aging.

Continuing the releasing of some ‘nice and friendly’ OGL Series items.
I know some folks are used to carrying their cards and cash in super slim storage. Honestly, money clip are really the way to go to solve this.

I was caught by surprise when I came across this picture the other day.
A long wallet made years ago when I was in France. For a friend, the wallet is a denim inlay style.
Using raw denim fabric, vegetable-tanned natural leathers, hand-stitched from my garage workshop.
Thank you very much for using, Eric.

I can understand that many still do not understand the properties of vegetable-tanned leathers. They are often surprised by the darkening from pure creamy white, natural state.
Here is another good one for you – A used 9981 Olive Messenger Bag as compare to the new one.
Yes, the darkening of the natural leather is ‘severe’. I applied Huberd’s oil twice in my 4 months of usage. I hope I have captured the softness of the leather correctly. You can click on the pics and enlarge them.
The back is stain by the raw denim I wear most of the time. The ‘flesh’ of the leather has smoothen out without the hairy initial feel. Leather strap is soften to flexible and real easy on shoulder.Using it daily to work, commuting in motorcycle, the bag went through some heavy downpour, tropical humid sunlight with heavy storage of files, EDC, sunglasses, MP3 …etc. The duck canvas faded faster than I expected. with horizontal fading vividly showing up.
With the tested and some improvements, this bag is ready to go.
