The Strike Gold

You have another colorway too right? I'm tempted to get either the denim or another flannel, totally impressed.
-
I do, it's a different style though (with the "blanket" interior - not sure how else to describe it).
-
If anyone would like to take my black medium crew off my hands or trade for a medium hoodie, a pm would be great! Too damn hot here
-
By far the warmest sweat I've owned. I'm far from a medium, but best of luck. I really like the black color.
-
Wanted to share some details of the SG work shirt.
Thanks for the detail pics! Wish I could get my paws on one of those. Great colorway.

I’m tempted to buy a SG sweat direct from Japan, but am not sure about a few things.
Is there different Japanese sizing for SG? Huge tariffs? Is it actually much less money after taxes/shipping?

and are SG crew sweats heavier than IH crews sweats?
Thanks! -
Tariff is built into Rakuten.
Sizing of SG is small and their sweats are not sanforized or rinsed at all, they will shrink. I have a Medium first generation hoodie and it is TIGHT. I will have to sell it if it ever gets wet.
Rakuten is usually significantly cheaper, but you have to weight that against the challenge of returns. They are usually nearly unfeasible.
The old SG hoodies are maybe the heaviest on the market, but I have heard that the current generation of hoodies and sweats aren't as good.
-
I thought the new ones felt lighter as well. I remember I bought one maybe a year ago and it felt so fucking fluffy after just a soak. Kiya/Tyler say nothing's changed but I'm not sure.

This is true. Prices are generally cheaper on a lot of things, but good luck with communications (if Japanese is not your language) and returns.

Thanks guys! So do SG sweats just keep shrinking? Is warm washing them bad? and for sizing… I got an extra large IH sweat, but it’s a little big in the body except for the arms which are perfect… I am thinking about getting XL SG sweat, but am concerned with the arms and shrinkage. Tight body won’t be a problem, but I have super long arms… can’t do much under 25.5 (prefer longer) arm length… Maybe large?
Thoughts? -
People over think sizing. In my opinion strike gold sweats really only lose length. The thing is it's not like it's a pair of jeans, sweatshirt fabric is very easy to stretch back. Medium in IH and it's kind if loose but I take a medium in the sg and it fits great
-
Yes, my black sweat shrunk about an inch in chest and length.
-
Have you noticed getting noticeably fluffier with wear?
-
I haven't noticed a difference, but it's only been a month or so.

So I have been reading up on strike gold sweats and it seems they can really shrink… for example: this add on eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Strike-Gold-Heavy-Loopwheeled-Sweatshirt-Crewneck-Real-Mccoys-Buzz-Rickson-/221365498434?pt=US_Mens_Sweats_Hoodies&hash=item338a697242) says they are selling a medium with 21 inch arms?!?!? Self edge says arms on the medium measure 27 inches before shrinkage… so would I be able to stretch my sweatshirt back out to over 25 inches if it shrunk 6 inches from 27.7 inches to 21.7 inches? Did the seller on eBay do something less than smart for care or do they really shrink this much?
I really want to order one today, but need a little over 25 inches for my arms. So any help figuring this out would be much appreciated.
Thanks -
Self edge measurements are wrong. Are you a medium?
-
Get a large. The scuttlebutt is these mofos can shrink significantly. And I even read somewhere the newer ones can do so unevenly.
