White's Boots
-
Bluegrass, I'm all but certain the farmer rancher is the smokejumper with a non-lug sole, and vise versa. As for the Biltrite option; I'll keep ya posted if I get updates but Kyle told me he was talking to Whites prez about the exclusive, so I'm reasonably confident that it'll happen.
Question of my own: anyone do a bounty hunter or SJ with the packer upper? I prefer the vamp/counter stitching of the packer (that it doesn't intersect- if that makes sense). Wesco will do it, but haven't heard any similar stories for Whites…
Thx, I suspected it was the SJ last, makes sense. I am intrigued/curious about White's Packers, you don't see many pics or hear much buzz about them. I'd like to see/hear more.

The double sole would increase the height of the heel by the width of the 2nd sole… it keeps everything in proportion - the whole boot is elevated by the width of the 2nd sole. I can't speak to the sustainability of the soles - i have the commando 1/2 sole on one of my boots but I haven't worn them long enough to comment.

There's an interesting SD build on White's ebay auctions:
The description only says "burgundy leather", but doesn't mention what type of leather it is. Calf? Water Buffalo? Seems to be very glossy and the colour has a beautiful depth. Also, the toe cap is interesting. It has that dark burnished look that is quite popular on "fashion" boots and which I normally don't like. I think it's pretty cool here. Could that be a new option - burnished dress toe cap?
What do you think? btw that pair is way too small for me. But I am thinking about a pair of SDs in the near future;-)

I think those are water buffalo. That combo is insanely sharp

I was looking at these (there in my size ) but whats up with the in step? looks like it goes in way to far?

The mid sole at the instep hasn't been trimmed in close enough, even the beloved Viberg do it as well sometimes, looks weird but an easy fix at a cobblers or someone whose bloody nifty with a belt sander. That's why its worth starting off with a natural edge and having it colours after any trimming you might like/ need.

Wow…
I love Whites, but those are not pretty!!! :o
