Sugar Cane's 11oz Summer-Weight Jean, Mister Freedom's Patrol Chambray Shirt, & Iron Heart's Glen Check Printed Chambray
Sugar Cane has released its first new jean model in three years, the new "2013" 11oz summer-weight jean. This is a rinsed selvedge rope-dyed denim made of a combination of American and Zimbabwe cotton for a soft hand-feel and a vintage look. These come in a fit that is between a straight and a slim cut jean. With the popularity of the 2009 jean from Sugar Cane we're sure the 2013 will be a future classic.
Mister Freedom just hit us with the hottest chambray in years. This one is made in Japan with a specially designed medium weight chambray, maple brown corozo nut buttons, and olive green stitching throughout. It really is the perfect chambray shirt for us, and the way the placket meets the selvedge ID near the bottom of the shirt is a type of genius that only Mister Freedom can offer.
Lastly we have a new Glen Check printed chambray shirt from Iron Heart. This shirt starts off as a gray chambray that is then printed with a fine glen check pattern with a fugitive dye that comes off with regular wear and washings. It's a rugged shirt that's going to look great over time.

I tried on the MF Chambray over the weekend and should have bought it then. Thank god for online shop to help with restraint remorse.

Flat Head Spring Collection of Flannels, Wallets, & More
We've just received this season's first shipment from Flat Head.
Leave it to Flat Head to produce the nicest spring weight flannel shirt ever, available in three colors and perfect for all seasons. They've taken the pattern used on their heavyweight winter flannels and produced a lightweight slack woven flannel that breathes very well and is still soft to the touch without the brushed interior (which reduces breathability).
We're going all in with Flat Head's leather accessories and jackets over this next year, and we've just received their new beautiful horsehide bi-fold wallets. Fully hand sewn in Nagano (Japan) using the best horsehide from Japan's famed Shinki tannery. These wallets will last you a lifetime and will age and darken with regular wear.
We've also received a full restock of leather bracelets, key hooks, all jean models, leather belts, blank t-shirts in white and black, heavy merino socks, and solid leather wallet chains in tan and black.

I'm a 40 in FH stuff, and pretty much between a small and medium in iron heart. If you're also a small in mister freedom, sugar cane, buzz, etc…. Go 38
-
loving the flannels. ive never tried a fh shirt before, so trying to get the sizing correct. im a "normal" size small, would a sz 40 fit? or perhaps 38 would be more fitting. judging by the measurements they (40) look quite similar to a small in ih - except the shoulders.
I'm a Small in Mister Freedom and Iron Heart and a 40 in all Flat Head shirts. I think the 40 would be good for you. The 38 would be smaller than a IH Small because the 38 would measure about 38" in the chest where as the IH small measures around 40". Also the FH shirts run shorter in the body than IH shirts so i believe the 40 would be good.

3sixteen+ Natural Pima Cotton Slim Tapered Jeans & Darn-It!'s Special Tie-Dyed Edition
We'd like to interrupt the usual dark, heavy, selvedge denim news with something a little different. We're releasing our first non black or indigo jean. 3sixteen+ has released a new skinny fit jean for women in a natural un-dyed and unbleached Cone Mills pima cotton denim in their 77BSP fit. This jean starts out off-white and will age as it darkens naturally. The jean can be bleached or washed to get it back to its original state, or you can wear it until it looks like a mechanic's smock.
We've then taken ten pairs of the 577BSP jean and had Rain Delisle, Darn-It!'s master tailor, tie-dye them in various colors in San Francisco. Each jean was dyed individually using Procion MX colors to create its own pattern and color so no two pairs are alike. These are limited to ten pairs and available via email, phone order, or in-store at SESF for $295 a pair.
Check the online store for a full spec list, high-res photos, and measurements for the 577BSP jean.

Iron Heart Jeans, Jackets, Vests, & More
We've just received a large restock of the popular 301s jean from Iron Heart which now has a visible selvedge outseam. We worked with Iron Heart to tweak the way the outer leg is cut to preserve the selvedge edge of the fabric while maintaining the slim tapered fit the 301s is known for. The product page has been updated with the new measurements to reflect this.
We've also received a full restock of the Beatle Buster jean, the 634s, 461, and 9634z jeans. Along with all these jeans we've received Iron Heart's Type III jacket, rider's jackets in both indigo and Super Black, and Super Black denim vests.
All these jeans are available now at all four Self Edge stores and in our online store, check the appropriate product pages for more info, measurements, and high-res photographs.

To win a $250 Self Edge gift card from Rawr Denim or a pair of jeans from 3sixteen answer one of the two questions Dean Delray is asking on his Twitter today from the Podcast below.

Roy's new jeans are Kinda Special.
Roy Slaper is back to making jeans and we think he's created his best fitting jean yet. It's between a slim and straight cut with some taper to the leg using a new 13.75oz loomstate Cone White Oak denim that was developed exclusively for Roy. The denim has a nice heft to it and the fit is just perfect. The fabric's fibers really come alive after the initial soak with a little bit of hairiness which goes away after a week or two of wear. With a denim this rigid we're sure to see some wild worn in pairs later this year with a higher contrast wear pattern than his last lighter weight jean release.
Roy is modeling the Kinda Special (KS1001) jean in the photos after being soaked, hemmed, and worn for four weeks. Keep in mind that he sized up one from his true size for a roomier fit. If worn true to size the jean will fit a little slimmer than shown in the photos, yet due to the cut of the upper block it's a jean that can easily be sized up or down for a slimmer or roomier fit without looking sloppy or too snug.
**These jeans will go on sale at Noon (local time) at all four Self Edge stores on Saturday, May 10th and at 10am (PDT) in our online store on the same day. **
Check the product page for full measurements, a full spec list, more info, and high-res photographs.

The 52XX is sooooo sick. Drapes like sweatpants off the rack and has a lot of elasticity, almost like a knitted fabric. Can't recommend them enough.

Strike Gold Super Short Slub Weft Jeans & Brushed Flannel Shirts
While in Japan at the end of 2013 we saw a denim that excited us more than nearly any other new denim we'd seen in well over a year. It was at a meeting with Strike Gold at which they brought us a sample of the fabric to see; since that meeting we couldn't wait to get the jean into our stores. It's been a long six month wait since then and we've finally got a small run of these jeans available at our stores.
With the new 5105 (slim straight) and 5109 (slim tapered) models Strike Gold have produced a 15oz unsanforized denim made of pure indigo warp threads and a light gray weft thread. The denim is very interesting because they used a super short slub cotton for the weft threads. This is a cotton staple so short we believe it's shorter than the sugar cane fibers used in Sugar Cane's famed Okinawa and Hawaii jeans, except those use a slub fiber (sugar cane) in the warp and weft of the denim. Using a cotton staple this short is tricky when producing a fabric that should be rugged and somewhat heavy in weight because the yarns need to be spun at a far slower pace and therefore increasing the risk of the shuttle yarn (aka, the weft thread) snapping far more often than it already does. The slow spinning of the thread should not be confused with the tension or speed of a loom, spinning of yarns is a process which happens far before any loom is involved in making a fabric. All this work results in a denim that looks like no denim we've seen before. The process used gives the denim an extremely uneven texture, but not necessarily slubby looking. Our best description is that at a 45 degree angle it can be compared closely to a vintage hand-woven Persian rug, but not so much that most people wouldn't be able to tell much of a difference outside of the deeper color. The jean looks like an indigo colored denim but has a deeper blue hue from the weft threads peaking through the indigo warp threads. It's a jean like this which reminds us that we haven't seen it all, yet.
Along with these two new jeans we've received two new brushed flannels, available in red or yellow. If you're local to one of our four stores do yourself a favor and come by just to see this new denim in person.
Both jeans and flannels along with a restock of the 3105/3109 jeans and belts in both colors are available now at all Self Edge stores and in our online store.
