IH-1955-UHR - Ultra Heavy Raw 1955 Cut
-
@Snowy the shot was taken in a Margaret Howell shop. They have a few dresses there.
I tend to go in to look at the vintage Ercol furniture and leatherware. In that case it was to see a little exhibition on architecture!
My pair slimmed down quite a bit on the thigh. They're stretching out again now though. No before pics, sorry.

Snowy,
I've only cold soaked (2.5 hours) and line dried. So there probably is a bit more shrinkage to come (e.g., after machine washing). They didn't come in somewhat after the cold soak – some inseam effect but very little in the waist and elsewhere. I also stretched the waist a bit when they were damp (buttoned the waist around a small trash pale and stuffed a few things in to tighten). I was pretty concerned about the waist being too small given they were snug to begin with, but I'm feeling good about the 34's at this point. There will be a bit of future shrinkage, no doubt, but there may also be more stretch.
I will post some fit pics but would like to wait until after the first machine wash. Let me know if you can't wait a week or two
I really like the 1955-UHR, but I like higher rise jeans (12-13" in the front). Most jeans ride too low for me either in front, back, or both. One thing I like about IH's in general is that even if the front rises are too low for me, the back rises are reasonable. So I can wear a 634 without them feeling like they're coming off.

I would disagree… I don't have experience with this denim but in everything I've tried the waist always goes back to raw. Always. If it's good in the waist now and pretty loose otherwise I think the 34 might be perfect
Bit late to the party here but I agree with all of the above….

I'm wearing the 34 now – good in the waist and roomy elsewhere. 36 would have been too big, so thanks for the input everyone. I like this cut because of the rise especially. If you want trim, look elsewhere. But if you like a higher rise and some room in the hip and thigh, these are fantastic. Stiff and strong denim -- "we don't do light."

After weeks on the road, I was able to get a hold of my pair at the office on Friday. During the week end, I soaked it, washed it with no soap at 30 C, inside out, followed drying instructions, etc…
Later today, I will put it on and go on my motorcycle to the office this afternoon. Can't wait.
It must be my 12th pair of IH jeans (easily, Giles, have you kept track of my orders????), but the excitement never ceases when I get a new pair.

Oh yeah! The smell…... And its always stronger when the denim is a bit damp, too!

Oh baby done soaking the 55UHR & hell yes! I've been looking for these & didn't know it.

Okay here we go, with an XPOST to come too. This 23oz is impossible to do up. Feel post soak is still very stiff. Bits of nep, hues of various indigo in certain lights already hinting at what's to come. Think once these are cuffed again in a few more days the fit will settle to be a perfect relaxed fit.
