I'm selling a (basically pristine, just received from AppleCare+) iPhone 5 with a carbon fiber case and free shipping on eBay and some idiot sent me the following message:
200
I'm assuming that is an offer. It is above the reserve price. I guess this fuckstick doesn't know how to bid?
-
He might be offering for a paypal invoice transaction .
I deal a lot with rare vintage sneakers and I get offers like this all the time. Your right though… People could take the time to form a complete sentence expressing their thoughts instead of leaving it to you to figure out their train of thought.
-
Yeah… I also feel like it's ballsy to ask me to probably leave money on the table. I think I can get more than what he is offering, though I could well be wrong.
What's in it for me? Explain the value you're offering me, don't just send a number.
-
I completely agree… But you'd be surprised at the low ball offers people throw out there ... And almost always it's done by some turd like this

On the plus side, I was previously able to give my IHM-02 a happy new home to a forum lurker. Removed that one from the Bay.

Well, bad news seems to travel in bunches for me. After months of harassment in attempts to get her to quit, my wife was terminated from her job this morning. Funny enough her walking papers all but admit there was no valid performance reason, and that her termination stemmed from her calling out a superior on her treatment and reporting matters to their human resources department. Unfortunately she is but one of many being handled this way by a management team (read clique) that took over a few months back. With how integrated the health system is here, this may yet present more issues.
As I told her, looks as if we're in for some changes, possibly even in location.
-
That is not good man, my wife went through something similar about 6 years ago. Keep it together man, your family is all that matters.

Thanks guys, I'm actually a bit excited about the shift, of course barring the uncertainty of it all. It was also nice to see Cassie relieved that the bad situation was finally passed her. It's pushing me to find some new direction for myself as well, which has been needed for a while. It's unnerving to be put in such a position, particularly when you couldn't have changed it. However, drastic situations tend to lead us into better opportunity and that I look forward to.

Sometimes flowers grow out of bullshit.
Or at least magic mushrooms…

Sorry to hear that jd, but it sounds like a positive change will come of it. Best of luck.

10-06-2014 07:50 Delivery Agent - BELGIUM Held in depot
10-06-2014 07:34 Delivery Agent - BELGIUM Damage recorded - delivery to be scheduledThis is why I don't like GLS Parcelforce… Even if you leave a note providing an alternative address, an addy two streets away mind you, they won't deliver it. And now they've damaged it. Great.

This charming little coffee shop I used to frequent relocated down the street to a soulless location (you know, on the ground floor of a brand-new mixed-use development in the up-and-coming neighborhood) with a disgusting corporate sheen. The old location (a real building) would have been perfect for a cool bar or restaurant. Instead, a Shinola / Filson store will open there. I have no quarrel with Filson (aside from their having a loyal local retailer right across the street from their new store), but for reasons I don't want to get into, I consider Shinola to be uber-lame. So the Whole Foods (telling similar comforting stories about how you're saving the world by giving them money) anchoring the brand-new mixed-use development up the street has an insipid new partner in yuppified gentrification, complete with the false, smug, and self-satisfied veneer of redeeming America's Rust Belt.
I liked it better here when there was a good chance you could get stabbed on a given night.

Th GPS thing I bought to log my swims is knackered. Never seemed to work properly. The company I bought it from said that I need to return it to California and they would repair it. I threw a strop. There reply, "send us a photo of it smashed and we will send you a new one right away". I checked what they actually meant and yes, they want me to destroy it…....

Strongly sympathise, and kudos to you for this very apt description of the downsides of gentrification. We have similar (and severe!) issues in this context here in parts of Berlin, one of my best friends is moving, at a time when finding housing is all but easy, let alone cheap, because her part of Kreuzberg, once a traditional working class borough, just became too touristy and soulless.
Have you talked to the people of the coffee shop? Communicating ones concerns seems very important IMO.
