Iron Heart Products - What do you think we should make?
-
Good plan.

-
Black rough out type II would be super bad ass….
-
Just to add….tonal stitching.
-
Gray, silver, yellow, goldenrod, red? What tone Mega? Sounds cool.
-
Erm….black.....captain pedantic.

Has there ever been talk of doing an IHD01 or something similar in black warp/white weft denim ala the 1634s?
-
It's possible we could do an IHSH-76 out of the same denim as IHSH-33-black, but I'd need a load of Yay's! to make it happen…
-
Two thoughts.
First, what's everyone's response to the indigo warp/grey weft? Any detractors? Personally, I'd like to see more denim in this.
Second, has anyone seen a [dark] grey warp with an indigo weft? In my mind, seems like a pretty cool idea, but maybe it's actually awful live.
I hope I'm not speaking of insanity here.

My SGs are gray weft. I love it. Unbleached natural is also appealing though.

I love the 20 oz indigo warp, grey weft denim. That may be a Self Edge exclusive and not available for other projects, though. Grey warp, indigo weft could be interesting, but I think anything other than indigo or black is going to move slowly. IH did a grey denim a couple of years ago and I don't think it was a strong seller.
Haraki is kind of a traditionalist about denim, too. It took Giles years to convince him to do the double indigo. I think Haraki said it was a nice blue twill fabric, but not actually "denim".

Yeah, I recall reading that. I definitely have no itch to see weird implementations for the sake of pure novelty, but I do like to meditate on peculiar ideas.
On that note, I think the grey weft is great and gives the jeans a bit of a more somber tone, while still retaining a close resemblance to indigo/white.

There is no reason why I can't do a grey weft denim. But I have to say it would not be at the top of my "next projects" list, I simply have too much going on to think about and too many other things going on to worry about initiating a new run of a new denim that will require me to commit to 400 pairs of jeans. That is not to say it won't happen, but it won't be soon.
Messing around with warp and weft won't happen.
As Chris says, Haraki did the indigo/indigo against his better judgement and probably just to shut me up. And yes, the quote was (I can remember where we were and what we were doing when he told me), "I have made the indigo/indigo. It's a nice fabric, but not denim, but I think you'll like it"…... Funny post script, he has since asked me if he can use it in Japan, because "actually, I quite like it after all".....

I'd like to see the new 777 in the 18oz late this year, which is when I'll be buying a new pair. A reasonable request!
Indigo/Indigo is 18oz, your wish has been granted.

The Strike Gold 21XX denim did that, I believe it was a mud-dyed brown. It looks terrific.
Reminds me, on Kauai they have a lot of iron oxide in some of the mud, and they use it as a dye. Basically a burnt orange color. It would make a unique weft dye on denim for sure.
