Mister Freedom

Hey @jock1624 I'm a large in most IH shirts and a XL in IH heavy flannels.
I got in touch with the guys at MF about sizing this when I picked it up. They advised to go with my normal MF size, which is a large.
Here is me today in my large CPO.
This has had 2 hot soaks and a couple of warm washes, so I'm pretty sure I've got all the shrinking out of the way. It's a slimmer fit and slightly "dressier" to my other denim shirts, but in a good way.
I was on the fence about sizing for a while as well, and probably could have gone with an XL, but I think it would have been too long in the body for me. I'm (6ft)
Hope this gives you more of an idea mate.

Looks spot on. Congrats, that's a sweet pick up.

^^Cheers guys.

Great pair of jeans. I have the 64 US but wish I had known those were coming. I could have saved myself the $240 that I spent on my SC Okinawas.
-
@tmg those are way cool.. I think you scored! I think those jeans in that denim is a steal from MF. I just have so many 5 pocket jeans to wear and break in.
I currently have the Top Siders pants in the MN twill, and I am seriously considering another pair in the Oki denim.
I also just ordered the Patrol shirt in the Oki denim, should be here this week. Cristian said it was the last one in XXL, hanging up as their floor display - it is already rinsed - I hope it works for me.
-
I am glad you got one, they went fast. I really like mine a lot.

Curious what you think of the fit, Bluegrass? I passed because it seemed half a size too small, but, like everyone else, I think it's a great looking shirt.
I'm also wondering if you have experienced much shrinkage with your Indigo Métis Sportsman? I picked one up after you and Graeme, but I've found it to be a good half size too big! It's had a few cold washes and hang drys now– resulting in minimal shrinkage. I'm reluctant to throw it in warmer water with such strong instructions not to do so, though.

I haven't worn either of my Mister Freedom shirts much. Shortly after buying them everything got packed up to be shipped to Australia, and they're currently somewhere on the high seas!
I think that I got an XXL in the CPO and an XL in the Métis. The former shrank by about a size, the later barely changed.
-
Yeah, I'm an XXL in IH these days.
I got my shirts through Rivet and Hide, and so could check the sizing. The CPO would shrink by a size, whereas the Métis would only see mild losses.
My stuff has been in storage and transit since the start of December. It'll get here eventually.

@seanocono I received the PTO in XXL which they had already soaked - it is definitely more trim fitting than the Metis. The fit on the PTO (post soak) is very similar imo to the XXXL IH76 and Johnny Cash. Here is a comparison - the Metis has been soaked and washed in cold water 2-3 times now, always hang dry.
CPO post-soak: Metis post-soak:
Chest 24" 25"
Shoulder 19.5" 20"
Sleeve 25.5" 26"
Length 31" 30"It could be argued that the CPO is a bit snug on me, but I like it. It's a great shirt (plus I could stand to lose a few pounds…). The Metis is another animal altogether, something really special about this one - that color!! I agree mine didn't shrink much at all. But if you've washed yours a few times I'd think it may be safe to "experiment" a little, maybe wash it in warm water or toss it in the dryer inside out on low heat for 10 mins?
Here are some pics of the CPO:
I also have to put in a plug for the Cavalry Twill Map Shirt - this fabric is unbelievable - similar to the Okinawa but a looser weave. This shirt def. runs a size large - this is an XXL and I am wearing it OVER the CPO in the pic below - I've been wearing it this winter as a 3rd layer or light jacket - it's the nuts. But I have to say, when I got this thing it was f'ng enormous!! I took a chance keeping it, but it shrunk down as they predicted, and just from a cold rinse and hang dry.
And here is another pic, just for fun, of the Metis… even though it's cut bigger, it seems like it hangs really well and doesn't really feel like it's too big - all those cool little pleats

Thank you for taking the time to respond so thoroughly, Bluegrass. I am officially jealous of that CPO fit. I think I made a mistake passing on it. I also appreciate the comparisons to similar IH shirts, as I have the 81 Cash in a XXXL.
I agree the Métis Sportsman is a special shirt, too. I've been trying wearing it open for a more casual look, but may take your advice and slowly turn up the temp with subsequent washes, until I get the shrinkage I desire.
Congrats on the Cavalry Map Shirt. I have seen the fabric in person, and it is indeed amazing. I'm sure you will get some great fades if you keep layering with it, too.
Anything catch your eye this season? I'm interested in the Pincheck Workman, Utility Jacket, and Hi-Land In Evac Jacket; but I will need to see them in person to determine if they are musts. I've been making an effort to really scale back the wardrobe, and only wear things that I truly love. That's why I asked for your opinion on fits and shrinkage, because it if it doesn't fit near perfectly, it's gotta go.
Thanks again, and enjoy your awesome gear!

CPO fit looks great @Bluegrass. Enjoy mate, it's a killer shirt.

Bluegrass, I may not have been clear. I haven't seen any of the new stuff in person, yet. I was just listing the items I am interested in from looking on CL's blog. It's a blessing and a curse to live close by, as I'm sure you can appreciate.
Haha. Yeah, throw a post-it on the credit card. That helps.
