Things that have changed my life in the last 12 months

^^This. People get resistant about going to a professional for mental/emotional stuff and that's bad. If you'd go to a doctor because your knee hurts, why would you refuse to do so when something really important, like your mind, is involved?
-
You might know that I work in a large Hospital for psychosomatic disorders. You wouldn't believe how many inpatients we have and how "normal" they are. It's just nothing to be ashamed of and shouldnt be treated as an issue that solves itself.

You're right, but I can understand why people find it difficult. I suspect many perceive a bad knee as an unfortunate injury, while a mental condition is seen as a weakness. I think this can make it much trickier to admit to yourself, let alone others.
In addition to which, it's easy to be confident that bad knees can be easily, mechanically fixed. Fixes for stuff in the mind - especially while you're stuck in the middle of it - can be a lot harder to believe in.

figuring out many many things that I don't want to continue in my life

the last guitar I'll ever need (for now) Ibanez Artist series AM-202 semi hollow MIJ circa 1988. My first ever electric was an Ibanez, now I have an amazing vintage piece for all my jazz/blues/rock stuff to compliment my Stratocaster

my birthday present to myself this year was doing yoga every day.
A lot has changed from 26 to 27. I feel like an actual responsible adult. Now that a bunch of life events have hit me, I feel a new perspective on life. Living every day is where it's at, especially when you're in a pair of Iron Hearts!
Also. Thanks for sharing everyone. It's nice to read stories from everyone here. And I'm glad that everyone is making it through one fade at a time

Passing the Graduate Diploma in Law whilst holding down a stressful, demanding job. Good going considering its renowned as being a pretty fucking hard degree. As a result I'm now: BA(hons) MSc GDipLaw MRICS ACiarb.

Reassessing my friendship group as a result of many changes in life. Separating the wheat from the chaff. Many people that I have supported over the years vanished when times were tough. They can go fuck themselves. I am very lucky to have some incredibly close friends who I consider to be family.

Growing into becoming a father.

Finding out that Im going to be a father again.
Change is awesome. Overcoming adversity is even better.

Yeah, I'm just trying to hold on until some relief presents itself. Surrounding myself with friends and staying busy seems to help. Tough times…..never understood depression until now.
Hey @gratefulmelon- sorry to see you don't feel well. Don't know where you live, this is an interesting column by an American writer & former talk show host…ok that doesn't look promising. It's good, though. Says it better than I could.

Got divorced.
Relapsed after a decade in recovery.
Got clean again and reconnected with friends and a sense of serenity in most areas of my life.
Left a promising career in healthcare management for a job closer to home/friends, with less stress, to be able to spend more time with my son.
Took a 50% cut in salary.
Had a promising interview yesterday at a private/for profit where I've worked with several staff members in the past. Great benefits/pay, in a field I'm very experienced in with opportunity to grow personally and professionally.
The last two years have been some of the toughest but most rewarding I've ever experienced.
Hopefully 2017 will have brighter days in store for me. I sincerely wish the same for each of you guys here. I've made some decent friendships with some of you and hope to build more in the future. -
Hope next year keeps on the up and up for you @gratefulmelon

My 2016. Paid off all our unsecured debts (credit cards etc…), and a big chunk of mortgage. My wife was made redundant from a job she hated and now works in a job she loves which is much closer to home, and I now volunteer my spare time to coaching kids football which, considering how irritating I find kids, is extremely rewarding.
Hope all the forum people had a great year, and have an even better one next year

2016 has been a good year for me. After being out of work for 3 years:
Got a job
In another city
Stayed in hotel, w friend, apt
Drove back and forth weekly to originating city (least positive activity for timeframe)
Bought a house
Relocated to new city OFFICIALLY
Sold house for max profit in old city
Paying off debt from being out of work
Looking for new bike & truck. For medicinal hill country purposes of course.…and bought 2 more pair of IH bottoms!
-
I had an exciting year. In chronological order… moved back to the US, got a new dog, got engaged to my gf of 9 years, finished my PhD, got married, got a tenure track job at a research university, moved across the country and started the new job. I'm grateful for everything but also hoping for a less eventful, less stressful 2017.

Continuing to buy IH gear.
I met some really great forum members in the Philadelphia area Fun in Philly meet up.
Injured my knee at work.
Continued to buy IH gear.
Had a kidney stone in early June which was the worst pain I have ever endured.
I went to the Burg & Shild party in Berlin and met another great group of forum members.
Had a heart attack. Quit smoking. Returned to London 10 days later.
Continued to buy IH gear.
Regularly exercising, regularly buying IH gear, still not smoking.
The best discovery is that longer than 12 months ago, probably late 2014 I found the 1955S 21 oz. on this site and bought my first 2 pair IH's then spent up until now after multiple jeans purchases and decided that these are my favorite jeans that I have purchased, and ended 2016 buying 2 more pair.
