Red Wing Shoes

True…that would be the cost.
Totally, but I find it hard to believe that they couldn't swing for an extra pair of $3 laces (probably costs them about $0.65) when you are buying $330 boots. I know in the "boot" world that is not very expensive, but back in the day (2007 or so) Red Wing would include 2 or 3 pairs of laces with each boot.
That's what happens when companies get big and the bean counters get involved, long live Viberg, Wesco etc…
I'm not down on Red Wing, I have been wearing them for years but Quality always seems to slip when companies expand. Hey ho! -
So very true!! I don't think the small man operations will ever change as drastically as RW has, but Alden (as an example) sure has begun to "over produce" certain items and it has become apparent in many ways when handling their newer stuff.

I've store bought three pairs of red wings over the years which I would definitely say suffered quality control issues. My latest pair of moc toes bought very recently had the sole edges finished by someone drunk or with a wonky eye. Let's just say heavy handed with the finishing wheel, but on one boot only!

Never had an issues with Redwing either & I tend 2 buy them 2nd hand or on sale.
The moc toe oxfords are great

I can say I've never had an QC issues with my RWs, but I also wear mine nearly everyday, so I expect them to break down.
RW is a nostalgic brand for me as my dad always wore RW and Irish Setter boots for yard work, camping, etc. he was born and raised in Dallas, so it was Justin boots with slacks or Red Wings with some torn up Levis.
Here is my RW set:
Moc Toes from 2008
Round Toe JCrew edition from 2011
Iron Rangers from 2015
Blacksmith from 2016Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My Moc toe 875s right now. I love red wings heritage line. Never had any problems either. Although I only own 3 pair..

Headed to New Orleans tomorrow for a St.Pattys day parade - the forecast is rain rain and more rain - so aside from My trusty IH-536, I figured I needed a fresh pair of oiled boots to keep me dry.
It had been a bit since I oiled up the 1907, so I figured id go ahead an put some polish on the Blacksmith's and Oil up my ostrich Justin boots as well.
The Crew Before:
The 1907 after:
Went ahead and put some boot polish on the blacksmith boots. Wasn't sure how the material would suck it up since it's essentially singed rough out, but red wing suggested it treat the leather.
Before:
After some black boot polish and shine brush:
Turned out well!

Hi all,
as some of you know, my internship at IH was part of my bachelor's degree and so is my thesis that I am planning to write this summer.
I will write about customer and brand loyalty of (heritage) brands/ manufactories and decided to include expert interviews and at least one survey. Depending on how this one goes, I'd also like to do an IH survey at a later point.
For now, this one is for all you Red Wing Shoes owners out there! The survey will take approx. 6 minutes and is available in English and German.
