Iron Heart Products - What do you think we should make?
-
Tonal stitching was the subject of some discussion early in the development of the double indigo jeans. The forum members seemed fairly evenly split, as I recall, and neither Giles nor Haraki were in favor. Based on that, I think you're out of luck.
The 634SII are fantastic jeans, and although it would probably be a production and logistical nightmare, I'd like to think there's enough demand for each version to accommodate producing both. A pair with tonal stitching (and silver hardware) would be so completely different from my current pair that I could easily justify the additional purchase. Make them non-fading and that would be damn close to my perfect jean.

@StarsSuck - depending on where you get the 633 hemmed, they can end up fairly similar in fit to the 634. I had Kiya check the leg opening on a pair of 633 hemmed to 32" (my usual inseam) and the measurement was only slightly below the hem measure of a 634N. Might be worth looking into if you really love the tonal stitching.
@Chris - I would love the idea of a "Forum" version of the 634.. something that we all vote on and the winner of all the details gets made. A Knife pocket like on the BB would be cool, and I agree on silver hardware and tonal stitching, or perhaps a totally different color of stitching, like on the Vulcan. Maybe even have the pocket bags stamped with the IHF-2016 badge…

@Appfaff - I did consider altering the 633-Its more an issue of thighs. While I'm not a bodybuilder, my thighs can get a little big depending on what I'm in to athletically at the time. I've had to get many a darn because my stupid thighs put too much stress/friction on that crucial crotch area! The 634s are perfect and can handle all the abuse I cam dish out. I like the idea of a forum pair, especially with the patch and tonal stitch. When I get a hem, I always choose a funky color-right now I have a neon green. I'd be down for a weird color on the inseam kinda like what Momo does with the peach thread now and then. Maybe a green?? Or grey?? Black that fades grey?
Un saludo!

I'm pretty sure Giles has said that the minimum production run for jeans is 400 pairs. The odds of a forum specific model selling that many are, well, I wouldn't say non-existent, but maybe non-existent adjacent?
-
@Chris - yeah, I agree - highly unlikely, but fun to dream about…

100 pairs of jeans, but minimum run of a new fabric is 400. So if this was to have legs we'd "only" need to do 100.
Start a poll on this to get an idea of how many people are interested?

You mean an embroidered fabric one, like this?
Or a leather one instead of the standard IH patch?
-
I kind of meant a leather one, to replace the 634/777/666/555 patch on existing jeans. Then I started thinking of all the problems with the idea (how many people would fit it themselves, any new jeans that had it applied would be non-returnable) and started to question the idea. As you were….

I've applied a leather patch to my jeans. It's super easy to be honest. I'd be in for a forum leather patch esp if designed by @VonOlzen.

If the sample comes out incorrectly (which they probably will, as we have not attempted trousers in whipcord before), then I will tweak for production…..
Possibly a smaller leg opening, (7.5"), @ 31" inseam.
Edit: I know it wouldn't be an 816 cut, but brown whipcord sounds superb.

Now that I have the 14oz denim in hand I would like to formally request a type 3 jacket in this denim. My vintage big e jacket is nearing the end of its days. This denim is great.

What about a grey waxed duck jacket? Don't see too many grey ducks and I think they are SUPERB! Olive is also another beautiful waxed duck…waxed duck is just the best! Haha
