Arm length - Ultra Heavy Flannels (UHFs)
-
^ Sorry, upon reflection, what I meant to say was - I'm not prepared to have that argument just yet, especially after irritating the tits off the crew already today…..
And I certainly don't expect you to. Especially since this discussion had proved that no choice is a perfect solution. Not to mention that, based on the number of times it's been mentioned, forearm size is a non-issue for the vast majority of IH buyers.

When I get back to the UK, I will measure the 131-BB's and give Tom my ideal arm lengths for each size. And guess what? That'll likely be between the shorter examples and the longer examples.
yep
Said this somewhere here before… sizing can only be a compromise, as long as you don't go for bespoke. There are far too many body types to hit every nail with ready to wear garments. So the key is imo to find a balance in between the extremes.

I vote to split the difference. I'm already an outlier in that I wear an XS or S but at just over 6 feet tall the sleeves being any shorter would be too short. But I prefer a sleeve that sits right on the wrist and doesn't go down much onto the thumb, so 'short' is better than 'long' for me. The size small 101MC was about as short as I'd go on sleeves, still comfortable length but an extra half inch would be fine (no more though).
As someone mentioned earlier compiling the votes based on what size each voter is would be very interesting.
@Giles, if beneficial, and if people want to post what they voted for and what size they are I'd be happy to compile this in a somewhat detailed spreadsheet (it's what I do all day at work anyway).

I think people tend to forget that IH is a brand that was dreamed up with riders in mind, that denim hipsters happened to fall in love with…..

^that's right. and to be honest I'm 6'3" so longer sleeves work.

I'm similar to @neph93 in that I'm built short-ish and round. I too would prefer a shorter arm length, but I understand that the brand is aimed at riders first, denim hipsters second. I sometimes have to size up from an XL to an XXL due to the chest, but often find that by doing so the sleeves gets longer and the cuff opening gets bigger too. Some shirts I could live with longer arms, but only if I could cuff them properly so the sleeves wouldn't swallow up my hands.
Am I the only one who has this problem? When you get taller, do your wrists/hands get bigger too?

Thanks @BloodnThunder . No need, I know what I need to do.

@Giles: so the IHSH-127s that you are rereleasing this year will be longer in the arms than the ones you released last year? As a shorter person, 5'8", but with 43" chest/18.5" shoulders, the 127s last year were perfect in XL. Finding that kind of fit OTR has been somewhat of a unicorn, but IH nails it for me. Longer arms will be devastating, but understandable, as I'm pretty sure I'm a big outlier.

Hopefully the crazy black plaid will get them shorter arms!!

I'd definitely vote to stick with the so-called 'short' sleeves. Longer sleeves always look a bit of a shocker. I feel for Patrick in the 131 fit pics, he looks swamped.
On a side note, IH shirts could almost always handle a trim in length too, 'shorter' shirts always look far sharper than longer shirts - again Patrick's pics do the 131 no favours, and that's an XS. I know everyone has their own personal preference, but I'd say at least 90% of IH shirts are an inch longer than they should be!
-
Patrick is tiny, even an XS is sometimes too large.
And I would say that 90% of our shirts are too short…And I think that shirts that are too short look ridiculous.
As @rocket said one size does not fit all. That's just the way it is.
We compromise the best we can. It may be big hassle, but you can actually shorten length, it is impossible to lengthen…

Anything that is cut prior to my updated instructions will have the longer arm length. I know that this def means the purple and the green buffalos (as I saw them being sewn yesterday). No idea what else will get through before I change things…..
Have they already started on the redxblack of the 127s? That's the one I'm looking to buy among the 127s.

What was not clear from the above?

This. Thanks Giles.
